次日，非利士人来剥那被杀之人的衣服，看见扫罗和他儿子仆倒在基利波山，

非利士人聚集，来到书念安营；扫罗聚集以色列众人在基利波安营。

非利士人将他们的军旅聚到亚弗；以色列人在耶斯列的泉旁安营。非利士人的首领各率军队，或百或千，挨次前进；大卫和跟随他的人同着亚吉跟在后边。

大卫就去，从基列雅比人那里将扫罗和他儿子约拿单的骸骨搬了来，是因非利士人从前在基利波杀扫罗，将尸身悬挂在伯珊的街市上，基列雅比人把尸身偷了去。

那时，非利士人聚集军旅，要与以色列人打仗。亚吉对大卫说：“你当知道，你和跟随你的人都要随我出战。”

报信的少年人说：“我偶然到基利波山，看见扫罗伏在自己枪上，有战车、马兵紧紧地追他。

基利波山哪，愿你那里没有雨露！愿你田地无土产可作供物！因为英雄的盾牌在那里被污丢弃；扫罗的盾牌仿佛未曾抹油。
