大闢出迓、告曰、如爾心懷平康、欲來助我、則我與爾和好。如欲欺我、付無辜於敵手、則望列祖之上帝、加以督責。

David went out to meet them and said to them,“ If you have come to me in peace to help me, I am ready for you to join me. But if you have come to betray me to my enemies when my hands are free from violence, may the God of our ancestors see it and judge you.”

David went out to meet them. He said to them,“ Have you come to me in peace? Have you come to help me? If you have, I’m ready for you to join me. But suppose you have come to hand me over to my enemies when I haven’t even harmed anyone. Then may the God of our people see it and judge you.”

David went out to meet them and said to them,“ If you have come to me in friendship to help me, my heart will be joined to you; but if to betray me to my adversaries, although there is no wrong in my hands, then may the God of our fathers see and rebuke you.”

When Abner, who had twenty men with him, came to David at Hebron, David prepared a feast for him and his men.Then Abner said to David,“ Let me go at once and assemble all Israel for my lord the king, so that they may make a covenant with you, and that you may rule over all that your heart desires.” So David sent Abner away, and he went in peace.Just then David’s men and Joab returned from a raid and brought with them a great deal of plunder. But Abner was no longer with David in Hebron, because David had sent him away, and he had gone in peace.When Joab and all the soldiers with him arrived, he was told that Abner son of Ner had come to the king and that the king had sent him away and that he had gone in peace.So Joab went to the king and said,“ What have you done? Look, Abner came to you. Why did you let him go? Now he is gone!You know Abner son of Ner; he came to deceive you and observe your movements and find out everything you are doing.” (niv)

After he left there, he came upon Jehonadab son of Rekab, who was on his way to meet him. Jehu greeted him and said,“ Are you in accord with me, as I am with you?”“ I am,” Jehonadab answered.“ If so,” said Jehu,“ give me your hand.” So he did, and Jehu helped him up into the chariot. (niv)

The Lord rewards everyone for their righteousness and faithfulness. The Lord delivered you into my hands today, but I would not lay a hand on the Lord’s anointed.As surely as I valued your life today, so may the Lord value my life and deliver me from all trouble.” (niv)

Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. Then, whether I come and see you or only hear about you in my absence, I will know that you stand firm in the one Spirit, striving together as one for the faith of the gospel (niv)

After David had finished talking with Saul, Jonathan became one in spirit with David, and he loved him as himself. (niv)

The Lord said to Satan,“ The Lord rebuke you, Satan! The Lord, who has chosen Jerusalem, rebuke you! Is not this man a burning stick snatched from the fire?” (niv)

Finally, brothers and sisters, rejoice! Strive for full restoration, encourage one another, be of one mind, live in peace. And the God of love and peace will be with you. (niv)
