Let us bring the ark of our God back to us, for we did not inquire of it during the reign of Saul.”

基列耶林人至、攜耶和華之匱、詣於山巔、亞庇拿撻家、使其子以利亞撒為執事、守耶和華之匱。○匱在基列耶林。歷日已久、凡閱二十年、以色列眾慕耶和華、群集於彼。

斯言也、我在以法大聞之、在雅耳田遇之兮、

斯時也、上帝之匱在以色列族中、掃羅使亞希亞舁匱而至。

大闢知掃羅蓄謀害己、遂命祭司亞庇亞塔、攜公服至此、禱曰、以色列族之上帝耶和華與、僕聞掃羅欲至枝拉、職我之故、將滅斯城。我聞掃羅將至、果有此事乎、枝拉人將付我於其手乎、請指示我。耶和華曰、掃羅必至。又問、枝拉人將以我及僕從付於掃羅之手乎。曰、彼將付爾於其手。

大闢問耶和華曰、我可往擊非利士人否曰、可往擊非利士人、而救枝拉。

掃羅曰、我儕夤夜追襲非利士人、虜其所有、使其民人、靡有孑遺、迨至黎明、乃止。民對曰、爾可任意以行。祭司曰、當詣上帝前。

我為之諮詢上帝、豈始於此乎。王斷勿歸罪於僕、及我父之家、蓋此事、無論鉅細、我俱不知。

亞希米勒為之問耶和華、且供以食、又賜以非利士人坷利亞刃。
