列國為甚麼爭鬧？萬民為甚麼圖謀虛妄？世上的君王都站穩，臣宰一同算計，要對抗耶和華，對抗他的受膏者：「我們要掙脫他們的捆綁，脫去他們的繩索。」那坐在天上的必譏笑，主必嗤笑他們。那時，他要在怒中責備他們，在烈怒中驚嚇他們：「我已經在錫安－我的聖山膏立了我的君王。」

非利士人聽見大衛受膏作以色列王，非利士眾人就上來尋索大衛。大衛聽見了，就下到堡壘去。非利士人來了，散佈在利乏音谷。大衛求問耶和華說：「我可以上去攻打非利士人嗎？你將他們交在我手裏嗎？」耶和華對大衛說：「你可以上去，我必將非利士人交在你手裏。」大衛來到巴力‧毗拉心，在那裏擊敗了非利士人。他說：「耶和華在我面前沖破敵人，如水沖破一樣。」因此他稱那地方為巴力‧毗拉心。非利士人把偶像拋棄在那裏，大衛和他的人拿去了。非利士人又上來，散佈在利乏音谷。大衛求問耶和華；耶和華說：「不要直上，要繞到他們後頭，從桑樹林對面攻打他們。你聽見桑樹梢上有腳步的聲音，就要急速前去，因為那時耶和華已經出去，在你前頭攻打非利士人的軍隊了。」大衛就遵照耶和華所吩咐的去做，攻打非利士人，從迦巴直到基色。
