And God sent an angel to destroy Jerusalem. But as the angel was doing so, the Lord saw it and relented concerning the disaster and said to the angel who was destroying the people,“ Enough! Withdraw your hand.” The angel of the Lord was then standing at the threshing floor of Araunah the Jebusite.

永恆主就後悔造了人在地上，心中憂傷。

於是永恆主就改變心意不降災禍，就是他說、要向他人民施行的。

那一天迦得來見大衛，對他說：『你上去，在耶布斯人亞勞拿的禾場上為永恆主立座祭壇。』

『當猶大王希西家的日子、有摩利沙人彌迦對猶大的眾民傳神言說：「萬軍之永恆主這麼說：錫安必被人犂像田地；耶路撒冷必變為荒堆；這殿的山必像森林的山丘。」

所羅門就在耶路撒冷、永恆主向他父親大衛顯現的摩利亞山上他所豫備在「大衛地方、」在耶布斯人阿珥楠禾場上的、開始建造永恆主的殿。

『耶路撒冷啊，耶路撒冷，你常殺害神言人，扔石頭打死奉差遣到你裏面去的人。我多少次願意聚集你的兒女，彷彿母雞把自己的小雞聚集在翅膀底下，你們卻不願意！你看吧，你們的殿留下給你們了！

我甚麼時候論到一邦或一國說，要拔除，要拆毁，要毁滅，我所論到的那一邦若轉回離開他們的壞事，那我就後悔我想要降與他們的災禍了。我甚麼時候論到一邦或一國說，要建立，要栽植，他們若行我所看為壞的事，不聽我的聲音，那麼我就後悔我所說要使他們得益處的福了。

永恆主為他們興起了士師，又和那士師同在；儘那士師在世的日子、永恆主總是拯救他們脫離仇敵的手；因他們在壓迫者欺壓者底下所發出的哀哼聲，永恆主就憐恤他們。

以色列人就從他們中間除掉外族人的神，而事奉永恆主；因以色列人所遭遇的患難，永恆主的心就很着急。

自己卻進曠野、走了一天的路程，來到一棵羅騰樹下，就坐在那裏為自己求死，說：『罷了！永恆主啊，現在取我的性命吧！因為我並不比我列祖強。』

他第三次來，對他們說：『今後你們還睡覺麼？安歇麼？夠了！鐘點到了！看哪，人子被送交在罪人手裏了！

這雷轟和冰雹已經夠了：懇求永恆主吧！我就讓你們走，不再叫你們住在這裏。』

然而他、卻有憐憫；他赦除人的罪孽，而不除滅人；並且屢次使怒氣轉消，不激起一切烈怒。

你為甚麼冒永恆主的名傳神言、說這殿必像示羅那樣，這城必變為荒廢，沒有人居住呢？』眾民在永恆主殿裏就都聚集攏來擁到耶利米周圍。

他就禱告永恆主說：『哦永恆主啊，我還在我本地的時候、不就這樣說了麼？故此我才急速逃往他施啊；因為我知道你是有恩惠有憐憫的上帝，不輕易發怒，而有豐盛的堅愛，並且能改變心意不降所說的災禍。

天使向耶路撒冷伸手要殺滅城裏的人，永恆主就後悔、不降這災，便對那殺滅人民的天使說：『夠了；現在放手吧。』那時永恆主的使者在耶布斯人亞勞拿的禾場附近。

你請到我的地方，就是那在示羅的，我起先使我的名居住的所在，去察看我因我人民以色列的邪惡對那地所行的怎麼樣。

永恆主啊，要到幾時呢？回心轉意，憐恤你僕人吧！
