所羅門在耶路撒冷，在耶和華向他父親大衛顯現過的摩利亞山上，就是在耶布斯人阿珥楠的禾場上，大衛預備的地方，開工建造耶和華的殿。

那時，他們還未呼求，我就應允，他們還在說話，我就垂聽。

以色列人對撒母耳說：“請你不要靜默，為我們呼求耶和華我們的神吧，好叫他拯救我們脫離非利士人的手。”撒母耳就牽來一隻還在吃奶的羊羔，把牠作全牲的燔祭獻給耶和華，又為以色列人向耶和華呼求，耶和華就應允他。

於是有耶和華的火降下來，吞滅了燔祭、木柴、石頭和塵土，連溝裡的水也燒乾了。

他求告我，我必應允他；他在患難中，我必與他同在；我必拯救他，使他得尊榮。

主啊！求你開我的嘴，使我的口宣揚讚美你的話。

摩西把耶和華的一切話都記下了；清早起來，在山下築了一座祭壇，按著以色列十二支派立了十二根柱子。又派了以色列人中的青年人去獻燔祭，又向耶和華殺牛獻為平安祭。

火燄從祭壇上往天升起的時候，耶和華的使者在祭壇上的火燄中也升上去了；瑪挪亞和他的妻子看見了，就俯伏在地。

你們呼求你們神的名，我也呼求耶和華的名。那降火來顯示回答的神就是神了。”眾人都回答：“這話說得很好！”

你要為我築一座土壇，把你的燔祭、平安祭和牛羊獻在壇上；在我使人記念我名的地方，我都必到你那裡去賜福你。你若是為我築一座石壇，不可用鑿過的石頭來建築，因為你在石頭上一動用工具，就把壇污穢了。

你們要尊崇耶和華我們的神，在他的聖山上敬拜，因為耶和華我們的神是聖潔的。

所羅門禱告完了，有火從天上降下來，燒盡了燔祭和其他的祭品；耶和華的榮光充滿了那殿。
