And everything dedicated by Samuel the seer and by Saul son of Kish, Abner son of Ner and Joab son of Zeruiah, and all the other dedicated things were in the care of Shelomith and his relatives.

Samuel the prophet had set apart some things for God. Saul, the son of Kish, had set apart other things. So had Abner, the son of Ner. And so had Joab, the son of Zeruiah. All these things and everything else that had been set apart were taken care of by Shelomith and his relatives.

Also all that Samuel the seer and Saul the son of Kish and Abner the son of Ner and Joab the son of Zeruiah had dedicated— all dedicated gifts were in the care of Shelomoth and his brothers.

Shelomoth and his relatives also cared for the gifts dedicated to the Lord by Samuel the seer, Saul son of Kish, Abner son of Ner, and Joab son of Zeruiah. All the other dedicated gifts were in their care, too.

All that the seer Samuel, Saul son of Kish, Abner son of Ner, and Joab son of Zeruiah had dedicated, along with everything else that had been dedicated, were in the care of Shelomith and his relatives.

扫罗取得了以色列的王国以后，常常攻打四围的一切仇敌，就是摩押人、亚扪人、以东人、琐巴众王和非利士人，他无论往哪里去，都得到胜利（按照《马索拉文本》，“得到胜利”作“惩罚”或“行邪恶”；现参照《七十士译本》翻译）。扫罗行事勇敢，击败了亚玛力人，把以色列人从抢掠他们的人手中救了出来。扫罗的儿子是约拿单、亦施韦和麦基舒亚。他的两个女儿，长女名叫米拉，次女名叫米甲。扫罗的妻子名叫亚希暖，是亚希玛斯的女儿。扫罗军队的元帅名叫押尼珥，是尼珥的儿子，尼珥是扫罗的叔叔。扫罗的父亲基士和押尼珥的父亲尼珥都是亚别的儿子。

约押看见自己前后受敌，就从以色列所有的精兵中，挑选一部分出来，使他们摆阵去迎战亚兰人，他把其余的人交在他兄弟亚比筛手下，使他们摆阵去迎战亚扪人。约押对亚比筛说：“如果亚兰人比我强，你就来帮助我。如果亚扪人比你强，我就去帮助你。你要刚强；为了我们的人民和我们神的众城镇，我们要刚强！愿耶和华成全他看为美的事。”于是约押和与他在一起的人前进，攻击亚兰人；亚兰人在约押面前逃跑。亚扪人看见亚兰人逃跑，他们也在亚比筛面前逃跑，逃进城里去了。约押就从亚扪人那里回来，回到耶路撒冷去了。
