“ And Solomon, my son, learn to know the God of your ancestors intimately. Worship and serve him with your whole heart and a willing mind. For the Lord sees every heart and knows every plan and thought. If you seek him, you will find him. But if you forsake him, he will reject you forever.

“ And you, my son Solomon, acknowledge the God of your father, and serve him with wholehearted devotion and with a willing mind, for the Lord searches every heart and understands every desire and every thought. If you seek him, he will be found by you; but if you forsake him, he will reject you forever.

“ My son Solomon, always remember the God of your father. Serve him with all your heart. Do it with a mind that wants to obey him. The Lord looks deep down inside every heart. He understands every desire and every thought. If you look to him, you will find him. But if you desert him, he will turn his back on you forever.

And thou, Solomon my son, know thou the God of thy father, and serve him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind; for Jehovah searcheth all hearts, and understandeth all the imaginations of the thoughts: if thou seek him, he will be found of thee; but if thou forsake him, he will cast thee off for ever.

“ As for you, Solomon my son, know the God of your father, and serve Him with a whole heart and a willing mind, for the Lord searches every heart and understands the intention of every thought. If you seek Him, He will be found by you, but if you forsake Him, He will reject you forever.

“ And you, Solomon my son, obey the God of your father and serve him with a submissive attitude and a willing spirit, for the LORD examines all minds and understands every motive of one’s thoughts. If you seek him, he will let you find him, but if you abandon him, he will reject you permanently.

You, Solomon my son, know the God of your father, and serve him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind; for Yahweh searches all hearts, and understands all the imaginations of the thoughts. If you seek him, he will be found by you; but if you forsake him, he will cast you off forever.

If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me.

Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world.Let there be tears for what you have done. Let there be sorrow and deep grief. Let there be sadness instead of laughter, and gloom instead of joy.Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up in honor.Don’t speak evil against each other, dear brothers and sisters. If you criticize and judge each other, then you are criticizing and judging God’s law. But your job is to obey the law, not to judge whether it applies to you.

Seek the Lord while you can find him. Call on him now while he is near.Let the wicked change their ways and banish the very thought of doing wrong. Let them turn to the Lord that he may have mercy on them. Yes, turn to our God, for he will forgive generously.

“ Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you.For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.

I will give them hearts that recognize me as the Lord. They will be my people, and I will be their God, for they will return to me wholeheartedly.

And may you be completely faithful to the Lord our God. May you always obey his decrees and commands, just as you are doing today.”

My child, listen to what I say, and treasure my commands.Tune your ears to wisdom, and concentrate on understanding.Cry out for insight, and ask for understanding.Search for them as you would for silver; seek them like hidden treasures.Then you will understand what it means to fear the Lord, and you will gain knowledge of God.For the Lord grants wisdom! From his mouth come knowledge and understanding.

and he went out to meet King Asa as he was returning from the battle.“ Listen to me, Asa!” he shouted.“ Listen, all you people of Judah and Benjamin! The Lord will stay with you as long as you stay with him! Whenever you seek him, you will find him. But if you abandon him, he will abandon you.

Those who know your name trust in you, for you, O Lord, do not abandon those who search for you.

But the Lord said to Samuel,“ Don’t judge by his appearance or height, for I have rejected him. The Lord doesn’t see things the way you see them. People judge by outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”

For God is Spirit, so those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth.”

But I, the Lord, search all hearts and examine secret motives. I give all people their due rewards, according to what their actions deserve.”

You know when I sit down or stand up. You know my thoughts even when I’m far away.

And my righteous ones will live by faith. But I will take no pleasure in anyone who turns away.”But we are not like those who turn away from God to their own destruction. We are the faithful ones, whose souls will be saved.

But those who wish to boast should boast in this alone: that they truly know me and understand that I am the Lord who demonstrates unfailing love and who brings justice and righteousness to the earth, and that I delight in these things. I, the Lord, have spoken!

Hear the word of the Lord, O people of Israel! The Lord has brought charges against you, saying:“ There is no faithfulness, no kindness, no knowledge of God in your land.

And this is the way to have eternal life— to know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, the one you sent to earth.

I know, my God, that you examine our hearts and rejoice when you find integrity there. You know I have done all this with good motives, and I have watched your people offer their gifts willingly and joyously.“ O Lord, the God of our ancestors Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, make your people always want to obey you. See to it that their love for you never changes.Give my son Solomon the wholehearted desire to obey all your commands, laws, and decrees, and to do everything necessary to build this Temple, for which I have made these preparations.”

I publicly proclaim bold promises. I do not whisper obscurities in some dark corner. I would not have told the people of Israel to seek me if I could not be found. I, the Lord, speak only what is true and declare only what is right.

And they will not need to teach their neighbors, nor will they need to teach their relatives, saying,‘ You should know the Lord.’ For everyone, from the least to the greatest, will know me already,” says the Lord.“ And I will forgive their wickedness, and I will never again remember their sins.”

“ But if you or your descendants abandon me and disobey the commands and decrees I have given you, and if you serve and worship other gods,then I will uproot Israel from this land that I have given them. I will reject this Temple that I have made holy to honor my name. I will make Israel an object of mockery and ridicule among the nations.And though this Temple is impressive now, all who pass by will be appalled and will gasp in horror. They will ask,‘ Why did the Lord do such terrible things to this land and to this Temple?’“ And the answer will be,‘ Because his people abandoned the Lord their God, who brought their ancestors out of Egypt, and they worshiped other gods instead and bowed down to them. That is why the Lord has brought all these disasters on them.’”

“ Remember, O Lord, how I have always been faithful to you and have served you single mindedly, always doing what pleases you.” Then he broke down and wept bitterly.

The Lord is my strength and my song; he has given me victory. This is my God, and I will praise him— my father’s God, and I will exalt him!

The people rejoiced over the offerings, for they had given freely and wholeheartedly to the Lord, and King David was filled with joy.

He gave justice and help to the poor and needy, and everything went well for him. Isn’t that what it means to know me?” says the Lord.

then hear from heaven where you live, and forgive. Give your people what their actions deserve, for you alone know each human heart.

I will be careful to live a blameless life— when will you come to help me? I will lead a life of integrity in my own home.

“ God overlooked people’s ignorance about these things in earlier times, but now he commands everyone everywhere to repent of their sins and turn to him.

Nothing in all creation is hidden from God. Everything is naked and exposed before his eyes, and he is the one to whom we are accountable.

End the evil of those who are wicked, and defend the righteous. For you look deep within the mind and heart, O righteous God.

And when great disasters come down on them, this song will stand as evidence against them, for it will never be forgotten by their descendants. I know the intentions of these people, even now before they have entered the land I swore to give them.”

He did what was pleasing in the Lord’s sight and followed the example of his ancestor David. He did not turn away from doing what was right.

Since we are receiving a Kingdom that is unshakable, let us be thankful and please God by worshiping him with holy fear and awe.

My people are being destroyed because they don’t know me. Since you priests refuse to know me, I refuse to recognize you as my priests. Since you have forgotten the laws of your God, I will forget to bless your children.

Then they all prayed,“ O Lord, you know every heart. Show us which of these men you have chosen

“ He showed you these things so you would know that the Lord is God and there is no other.

A third time he asked him,“ Simon son of John, do you love me?” Peter was hurt that Jesus asked the question a third time. He said,“ Lord, you know everything. You know that I love you.” Jesus said,“ Then feed my sheep.

“ If they listen and obey God, they will be blessed with prosperity throughout their lives. All their years will be pleasant.But if they refuse to listen to him, they will cross over the river of death, dying from lack of understanding.

No one needed to tell him about human nature, for he knew what was in each person’s heart.

For God, who said,“ Let there be light in the darkness,” has made this light shine in our hearts so we could know the glory of God that is seen in the face of Jesus Christ.

Since they thought it foolish to acknowledge God, he abandoned them to their foolish thinking and let them do things that should never be done.Their lives became full of every kind of wickedness, sin, greed, hate, envy, murder, quarreling, deception, malicious behavior, and gossip.

For I was ashamed to ask the king for soldiers and horsemen to accompany us and protect us from enemies along the way. After all, we had told the king,“ Our God’s hand of protection is on all who worship him, but his fierce anger rages against those who abandon him.”

“ This is what the Sovereign Lord says: At that time evil thoughts will come to your mind, and you will devise a wicked scheme.

And the Lord was pleased with the aroma of the sacrifice and said to himself,“ I will never again curse the ground because of the human race, even though everything they think or imagine is bent toward evil from childhood. I will never again destroy all living things.

Fire tests the purity of silver and gold, but the Lord tests the heart.

“ Now go and call together all the elders of Israel. Tell them,‘ Yahweh, the God of your ancestors— the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob— has appeared to me. He told me,“ I have been watching closely, and I see how the Egyptians are treating you.

for as I was walking along I saw your many shrines. And one of your altars had this inscription on it:‘ To an Unknown God.’ This God, whom you worship without knowing, is the one I’m telling you about.

Care for the flock that God has entrusted to you. Watch over it willingly, not grudgingly— not for what you will get out of it, but because you are eager to serve God.

The Lord said to Moses,“ You are about to die and join your ancestors. After you are gone, these people will begin to worship foreign gods, the gods of the land where they are going. They will abandon me and break my covenant that I have made with them.Then my anger will blaze forth against them. I will abandon them, hiding my face from them, and they will be devoured. Terrible trouble will come down on them, and on that day they will say,‘ These disasters have come down on us because God is no longer among us!’

O Lord of Heaven’s Armies, you make righteous judgments, and you examine the deepest thoughts and secrets. Let me see your vengeance against them, for I have committed my cause to you.

And he will call out to me,‘ You are my Father, my God, and the Rock of my salvation.’

The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my savior; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the power that saves me, and my place of safety.

Solomon replied,“ You showed great and faithful love to your servant my father, David, because he was honest and true and faithful to you. And you have continued to show this great and faithful love to him today by giving him a son to sit on his throne.

O Lord of Heaven’s Armies, you test those who are righteous, and you examine the deepest thoughts and secrets. Let me see your vengeance against them, for I have committed my cause to you.

As they approached, Jesus said,“ Now here is a genuine son of Israel— a man of complete integrity.”

but you don’t even know him. I know him. If I said otherwise, I would be as great a liar as you! But I do know him and obey him.

I will strike her children dead. Then all the churches will know that I am the one who searches out the thoughts and intentions of every person. And I will give to each of you whatever you deserve.

But rebels and sinners will be completely destroyed, and those who desert the Lord will be consumed.

At the top of the stairway stood the Lord, and he said,“ I am the Lord, the God of your grandfather Abraham, and the God of your father, Isaac. The ground you are lying on belongs to you. I am giving it to you and your descendants.

The Lord observed the extent of human wickedness on the earth, and he saw that everything they thought or imagined was consistently and totally evil.

Whatever you give is acceptable if you give it eagerly. And give according to what you have, not what you don’t have.

Think carefully about what is right, and stop sinning. For to your shame I say that some of you don’t know God at all.

You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure.“ For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.”

then hear from heaven where you live, and grant what they ask of you. In this way, all the people of the earth will come to know and fear you, just as your own people Israel do. They, too, will know that this Temple I have built honors your name.
