耶罗波安却在犹大人的后头设伏兵。这样，以色列人在犹大人的前头，伏兵在犹大人的后头。犹大人回头观看，见前后都有敌兵，就呼求耶和华，祭司也吹号。于是犹大人呐喊；犹大人呐喊的时候，神就使耶罗波安和以色列众人败在亚比雅与犹大人面前。

撒母耳将一块石头立在米斯巴和善的中间，给石头起名叫以便以谢，说：“到如今耶和华都帮助我们。”

车兵长看见约沙法，便说：“这必是以色列王！”就转过去与他争战，约沙法便呼喊。

因为耶和华神是日头，是盾牌，要赐下恩惠和荣耀。他未尝留下一样好处不给那些行动正直的人。万军之耶和华啊，倚靠你的人便为有福！

扫罗又打发人去看大卫，说：“当连床将他抬来，我好杀他。”
