現在我吩咐以下的事，並不是在稱讚你們，因為你們聚集所導致的不是更好，而是更糟。

今我以此諭爾時、亦告爾、我不能嘉獎爾、因爾會集非致益、乃致損也、

爾中尚有一事、予實未敢恭維；以爾等聚會、非惟無益、且有損焉。

In the following directives I have no praise for you, for your meetings do more harm than good.

或是他所委派來懲惡賞善的那些官員；

難道你們沒有家，可以在那裡吃喝嗎？還是你們輕視神的教會，羞辱那些沒有什麼的人呢？我要對你們怎麼說呢？要稱讚你們嗎？在這事上，我不稱讚你們。

所以，如果全教會聚集在一起，大家都說殊言，有不明白殊言的，或不信的人進來，他們難道不會說你們都瘋了嗎？

你們不要放棄自己的聚會，像某些人所習慣的那樣，而要彼此鼓勵；你們既然看見那日子臨近，就更應該這樣。

「你要放開喉嚨，不要止住，揚起聲音，如同號角！你要向我的子民宣告他們的過犯，向雅各家宣告他們的罪惡。他們天天尋求我，喜愛認識我的道路，好像行公義的國民，不離棄自己神的法規；他們向我求問公義的判斷，喜愛在神的近旁；於是他們問：『我們禁食，你為什麼不看；我們刻苦己心，你為什麼不理會呢？』看哪！在禁食的日子裡，你們實際上尋求自己所喜悅的，欺壓一切為你們做工的人；看哪！你們一邊禁食，一邊爭競、紛爭、用邪惡的拳頭打人。你們為要自己的聲音在高處蒙垂聽，就不要像今天這樣禁食！

如果有人餓了，就應當在家裡吃，免得你們聚集，反導致懲罰。至於其他的事，當我來的時候才吩咐。

弟兄們，那麼該怎麼辦呢？你們聚集的時候，各人或有詩歌，或有教導，或有啟示，或有殊言，或有翻譯出來的話語——一切都要為了造就人。

我稱讚你們，因為你們在一切事上都記念我，並且照著我所傳給你們的來持守傳統。

當面的責備，好過隱藏的愛。

這樣說來，你們聚集在一起，所吃的並不是主的晚餐，

不要再帶無用的供物了！獻祭的香，是我所憎惡的；新月節、安息日、宣召的聚會——邪惡的嚴肅集會，是我不能容忍的。你們的新月節和所定的節期，是我心裡所恨惡的；它們成了我的重負，我已厭倦不堪。

事實上，對良善的行為，掌權者並不是可怕的；而對邪惡的行為，他才是可怕的。那麼，你想要不懼怕掌權的，就應當做良善的事。這樣，你就會得到他的稱讚。
