我復將新誡致書以傳爾、在主乃真、在爾亦真、蓋晦暗方過、而真光已照也、

雖然、吾所書者、亦可謂之新誡命、主所體認、亦爾等所體認者也。蓋暗昧寖消、而真光已著矣。

Yet I am writing you a new command; its truth is seen in him and in you, because the darkness is passing and the true light is already shining.

那光是真光，来到世上，照亮所有的人。

我赐给你们一条新命令，乃是叫你们彼此相爱；我怎样爱你们，你们也要怎样彼此相爱。

这些不信的人被这世界的神明弄瞎了心眼，使他们看不见基督荣耀的福音。基督本是神的像。我们不是传自己，而是传耶稣基督为主，并且自己因耶稣作你们的仆人。那吩咐光从黑暗里照出来的神已经照在我们心里，使我们知道神荣耀的光显在耶稣基督的脸上。

但是，对你们敬畏我名的人，必有公义的太阳出现，其光线有医治的能力。你们必出来跳跃如圈里的牛犊。

爱神的，也要爱弟兄；这是我们从神所受的命令。

亲爱的，既然神这样爱我们，我们也要彼此相爱。

我们知道，我们已经出死入生了，因为我们爱弟兄。没有爱心的，仍住在死中。凡恨自己弟兄的，就是杀人的；你们知道，凡杀人的，没有永生住在他里面。基督为我们舍命，我们从此就知道何为爱；我们也当为弟兄舍命。

看哪，因为冬天已逝，雨水止住，已经过去了。地上百花开放，歌唱的时候到了，斑鸠的声音在我们境内也听见了。

你们要彼此相爱，像我爱你们一样，这是我的命令。人为朋友舍命，人的爱心没有比这个更大的了。你们若遵行我所命令的，就是我的朋友。以后我不再称你们为仆人，因为仆人不知道主人所做的事；但我称你们为朋友，因为我从我父所听见的一切都已经让你们知道了。

在黑暗中行走的百姓看见了大光；住在死荫之地的人有光照耀他们。

耶稣对他们说：“光在你们中间为时不多了，应该趁着有光的时候行走，免得黑暗临到你们；那在黑暗里行走的，不知道往何处去。

你们也因着他而信那使他从死人中复活、又给他荣耀的神，好让你们的信心和盼望都在于神。
