今以色列族眾所仰者、惟待王明言、我主我王之後、誰踐爾位、

今以色列人眾之目、皆仰望我主我王、待王曉諭我主我王之後、誰坐王位、

My lord the king, the eyes of all Israel are on you, to learn from you who will sit on the throne of my lord the king after him.

You are my king and master. All the Israelites are watching to see what you will do. They want to find out from you who will sit on the throne after you.

現在你當謹慎，因耶和華揀選你建造殿宇作為聖所。你當剛強去做。」

看哪，這是我在約書亞面前所立的石頭，這一塊石頭上有七眼。看哪，我要親自雕刻這石頭，並在一日之間除掉這地的罪孽。這是萬軍之耶和華說的。

耶和華賜我許多兒子，在我兒子中揀選我兒子所羅門坐耶和華國度的王位，治理以色列。耶和華對我說：『你兒子所羅門必建造我的殿和院宇，因為我揀選他作我的子，我也必作他的父。

耶和華的靈藉着我說話，他的言語在我的舌頭上。

我的眼目時常仰望耶和華，因他必將我的腳從網裏拉出來。

我們的神啊，你不懲罰他們嗎？因為我們無力抵擋這來攻擊我們的大軍。我們不知道該怎麼做，我們的眼目單仰望你。」

大衛王對全會眾說：「我兒子所羅門是神特選的，還年幼脆弱，但這工程浩大，因這殿不是為人，而是為耶和華神建造的。

看哪，僕人的眼睛怎樣仰望主人的手，婢女的眼睛怎樣仰望女主人的手，我們的眼睛也照樣仰望耶和華－我們的神，直到他憐憫我們。

可是耶和華的話臨到我說：『你流了許多的血，打了多次大仗；你不可為我的名建造殿宇，因為你在我面前使許多血流在地上。看哪，你要生一個兒子，他必成為安寧的人；我必使他得享安寧，不被四圍仇敵擾亂。他的名字要叫所羅門，在他的日子，我必使以色列平安康泰。他必為我的名建造殿宇。他要作我的子，我要作他的父。我必堅定他國度的王位，使他治理以色列，直到永遠。』
