此後，瑪拿西在大衛城外，從谷內基訓西邊直到魚門口，建築城牆，環繞俄斐勒；這牆建得很高。他又在猶大各堅固城內設立將領。

「你們要遵守我的律例。不可使你的牲畜與異類交配；不可在你的田地播下兩樣的種子；也不可穿兩種原料做成的衣服。

哈曼就進去。王對他說：「王所喜愛要賜尊榮的人，當如何待他呢？」哈曼心裏說：「王所喜愛要賜尊榮的人，除了我，還有誰呢？」哈曼就對王說：「王所喜愛要賜尊榮的人，當把王所穿的王袍拿來，牽了戴冠的御馬，把王袍和御馬都交給王一個極尊貴的大臣，吩咐人把王袍給王所喜愛要賜尊榮的人穿上，領他騎着御馬走遍城裏的廣場，在他面前宣告：『王所喜愛要賜尊榮的人，就是這樣待他。』」王對哈曼說：「你速速把這王袍和御馬，照你所說的，向坐在朝門的猶太人末底改去做。凡你所說的，一樣都不可缺。」於是哈曼把王袍給末底改穿上，領他騎着御馬走遍城裏的廣場，在他面前宣告：「王所喜愛要賜尊榮的人，就是這樣待他。」

王派撒督祭司、拿單先知、耶何耶大的兒子比拿雅，以及基利提人和比利提人和所羅門一起去，叫他騎上王的騾子。撒督祭司和拿單先知已經在基訓膏他作王了。他們從那裏歡呼着上來，城都震動，這就是你們所聽見的聲音。

那時，哈及的兒子亞多尼雅妄自尊大，說：「我要作王」，就為自己預備座車、騎兵，又派五十人在他前頭奔跑。

大衛對亞比篩說：「現在比基利的兒子示巴對我們的危害恐怕比押沙龍更大。你要帶領你主的一些僕人追趕他，免得他得了堅固的城鎮，在我們眼前逃脫。」約押的人和基利提人、比利提人，以及所有的勇士都跟着亞比篩，從耶路撒冷出去追趕比基利的兒子示巴。

又給約瑟坐他的副座車，在他前面有人呼叫說：「跪下。」於是，法老委派他治理埃及全地。
