老年人對他說：『今天王若肯做這人民的公僕而服事他們，回答他們時對他們說好話，他們就必日日不斷地做王的僕人。』

老年人对他说：“现在王若服侍这民如仆人，用好话回答他们，他们就永远作王的仆人。”

他们对他说：“现在王若像仆人一样服事这百姓，用好话回覆他们，他们就永远作王的仆人了。”

他们对他说：“现在王若像仆人一样服事这百姓，用好话回覆他们，他们就永远作王的仆人了。”

他们建议说：“现今王若像仆人一样服侍民众，对他们好言相待，他们会永远做王的仆人。”

长老对他说：“今天如果王作这民的仆人，服事他们，用好话回答他们，他们就常作王的仆人。”

老者曰、如爾今日在民前自卑如僕、從其所求、以善言答之、則彼必永為爾僕、

They replied,“ If today you will be a servant to these people and serve them and give them a favorable answer, they will always be your servants.”

They replied,“ Serve them today. Give them what they are asking for. Then they’ll always serve you.”

And they said to him,“ If you will be a servant to this people today and serve them, and speak good words to them when you answer them, then they will be your servants forever.”

The older counselors replied,“ If you are willing to be a servant to these people today and give them a favorable answer, they will always be your loyal subjects.”

They replied,“ Today if you will be a servant to this people and serve them, and if you respond to them by speaking kind words to them, they will be your servants forever.”

Then they spoke to him, saying,“ If you will be a servant to this people today, and will serve them and grant them their request, and speak pleasant words to them, then they will be your servants always.”

And they spoke to him, saying,“ If you will be a servant to these people today, and serve them, and answer them, and speak good words to them, then they will be your servants forever.”

And they spake unto him, saying, If thou wilt be a servant unto this people this day, and wilt serve them, and answer them, and speak good words to them, then they will be thy servants for ever.

They replied,“ Today if you will be a servant to these people and serve them, and if you respond to them by speaking kind words to them, they will be your servants forever.”

And they spake unto him, saying, If thou wilt be a servant unto this people this day, and wilt serve them, and answer them, and speak good words to them, then they will be thy servants for ever.

They said to him,“ Today if you show a willingness to help these people and grant their request, they will be your servants from this time forward.”

They replied,“ If you will be a servant to this people today, and will serve them, and answer them with good words, then they will be your servants forever.”

柔和的回答使烈怒消退；傷人的話語能激起忿怒。

羅波安王很嚴厲地回答眾民：他棄絕了老年人給他出的主意，

掌管者的怒氣若向你發作，你不要離開你的本位，因為柔順能和緩大過錯。

你們中間可不是這樣：不，你們中間凡想要做大的、就該做你們的僕役；你們中間凡想要為首的、就該做眾人的奴僕。

押沙龍往往對這種人說：『看哪，你的案件有情有理；無奈王沒有委人聽你伸訴。』押沙龍又說：『恨不得我在此地做審判官；凡有爭訟求判斷的人到我這裏來，我可秉公判斷。』若有人走近前來要拜押沙龍，押沙龍總是伸手拉住他，和他親嘴。以色列人凡去見王求判斷的、押沙龍都這樣待他們；這樣、押沙龍就竊奪了以色列的人心。

反而將自己傾倒出來，取了奴僕的形質，成為人的樣式。既在形態上現為人的樣子，就卑抑了自己，成為聽從的、以至於死，並且是十字架上的死！因此上帝也將他升為至高，將那超乎萬名之上的名賜給他，叫一切在天上的、在地上的、和地底下的、一聽見耶穌的名、眾膝無不屈跪，眾舌無不稱認耶穌基督為主、以彰顯父上帝的榮耀。

永恆主就用溫良安慰的話回答那跟我說話的天使。

羅波安的父親所羅門活着的時候有些侍立在他面前的老年人：羅波安王和這些老年人商議說：『你們給我出個甚麼主意，我好將答案回覆這眾民呢？』老年人對他說：『王若好待這人民，使他們喜悅，對他們說好話，他們就會日日不斷做王的僕人。』
