But Rehoboam rejected the advice the elders gave him and consulted the young men who had grown up with him and were serving him.

But Rehoboam didn’t accept the advice the elders gave him. Instead, he asked for advice from the young men. They had grown up with him and were now serving him.

But he abandoned the counsel that the old men gave him and took counsel with the young men who had grown up with him and stood before him.

你要听劝教，受训诲，使你终久有智慧。

王却不用老年人给他出的主意，就和那些与他一同长大、在他面前侍立的少年人商议，

反轻弃我一切的劝戒，不肯受我的责备。

因此，耶和华的怒气向亚玛谢发作，就差一个先知去见他，说：“这些神不能救它的民脱离你的手，你为何寻求它呢？”先知与王说话的时候，王对他说：“谁立你作王的谋士呢？你住口吧！为何找打呢？”先知就止住了，又说：“你行这事，不听从我的劝戒，我知道神定意要灭你。”

不听我的劝戒，藐视我一切的责备，

智慧人的心居右；愚昧人的心居左。并且愚昧人行路显出无知，对众人说，他是愚昧人。

要使人晓得智慧和训诲，分辨通达的言语，使人处事领受智慧、仁义、公平、正直的训诲，使愚人灵明，使少年人有知识和谋略，使智慧人听见，增长学问，使聪明人得着智谋，

智慧人的劝戒，在顺从的人耳中，好像金耳环和精金的妆饰。
