For David had done what was right in the eyes of the Lord and had not failed to keep any of the Lord’s commands all the days of his life— except in the case of Uriah the Hittite.

David had done what was right in the sight of the Lord. He had kept all the Lord’ s commands. He had obeyed them all the days of his life. But he hadn’t obeyed the Lord in the case of Uriah, the Hittite.

他在信裡寫著說：“要把烏利亞派到戰鬥最猛烈的前線去，然後你們就退到他後邊，讓他被擊殺。”那時，約押正在圍城，他知道哪裡有強悍的守軍，就派烏利亞到那裡去。城裡的人出來，與約押交戰。大衛的僕人中有一些倒斃了，赫人烏利亞也死了。

至於你，如果你像你父親大衛那樣，存誠實和正直的心在我面前行事為人，遵行我一切所吩咐你的，謹守我的律例和典章，

他們在神面前都是義人，遵行主的一切誡命規條，無可指摘，

你為甚麼藐視耶和華的話，行他看為惡的事呢？你用刀擊殺了赫人烏利亞，娶了他的妻子作你的妻子，你藉著亞捫人的刀殺了烏利亞。所以，從今以後，刀劍必不離開你的家，因為你藐視了我，娶了赫人烏利亞的妻子作你的妻子。’

大衛派人去查問那婦人是誰。有人說：“這不是以連的女兒、赫人烏利亞的妻子拔示巴嗎？”於是大衛差派使者去把她接來。她來到大衛那裡，大衛就與她同房。那時她的月經剛得潔淨。事後，她就回家去了。

“大衛在他自己的世代裡，遵行了神的計劃，就睡了，歸回他列祖那裡，見了朽壞。

他行耶和華看為正的事，跟隨他祖宗大衛所行的一切道路，不偏左右。

神啊！求你按著你的慈愛恩待我，照著你豐盛的憐憫塗抹我的過犯。

我重視你的一切誡命，就不至於羞愧。

亞比央行他父親在他以前所行的一切罪惡。他的心不完完全全歸向耶和華他的神，像他先祖大衛的心一樣。

他行耶和華看為正的事，效法他先祖大衛所行的，不偏左，也不偏右。

廢去掃羅之後，又為他們興起大衛作王，並且為他作證說：‘我找到耶西的兒子大衛，他是合我心意的人，必遵行我的一切旨意。’
