先知對王說：“耶和華這樣說：因為你把我要滅絕的人從你手中放走，所以要你替他償命。要你的人民抵償他的人民。”

他对王说：“耶和华如此说：‘因你将我定要灭绝的人放去，你的命就必代替他的命，你的民也必代替他的民。’”

他对王说：“耶和华如此说：‘因你把我决定要消灭的人从你手中放走，所以你的命必代替他的命，你的百姓必代替他的百姓。’”

他对王说：“耶和华如此说：‘因你把我决定要消灭的人从你手中放走，所以你的命必代替他的命，你的百姓必代替他的百姓。’”

他对王说：“耶和华说，‘你放走了我决定要毁灭的人，所以你的命要抵他的命，你百姓的命要抵他百姓的命。’”

先知对王说：“耶和华这样说：因为你把我要灭绝的人从你手中放走，所以要你替他偿命。要你的人民抵偿他的人民。”

他對王說：「耶和華如此說：『因你將我定要滅絕的人放去，你的命就必代替他的命，你的民也必代替他的民。』」

他對王說：「耶和華如此說：『因你把我決定要消滅的人從你手中放走，所以你的命必代替他的命，你的百姓必代替他的百姓。』」

他對王說：「耶和華如此說：『因你把我決定要消滅的人從你手中放走，所以你的命必代替他的命，你的百姓必代替他的百姓。』」

他對王說：「耶和華說，『你放走了我決定要毀滅的人，所以你的命要抵他的命，你百姓的命要抵他百姓的命。』」

他便對王說：『永恆主這麼說：「因為你將我要殺滅歸神的人從你手中放走，故此你的性命就必須代替他的性命，你的人民就必須代替他的人民。」』

彼謂王曰、耶和華云、我定當滅之人、爾由爾手釋之、故必以爾命代其命、以爾民代其民、

先知之徒曰、耶和華云、我欲殲滅者、爾反釋之、故必以爾命償其命、以爾民代其民。

先知謂王曰、主如是云、我定為必滅者、或作我所擒獲者爾反釋之去、故必以爾命代其命、以爾民代其民、

He said to the king,“ This is what the Lord says:‘ You have set free a man I had determined should die. Therefore it is your life for his life, your people for his people.’”

He told the king,“ The Lord says,‘ You have set a man free. But I had said he should be set apart to the Lord in a special way to be destroyed. So you must pay for his life with yours. You must pay for his people’s lives with the lives of your people.’ ”

And he said to him,“ Thus says the Lord,‘ Because you have let go out of your hand the man whom I had devoted to destruction, therefore your life shall be for his life, and your people for his people.’”

The prophet said to him,“ This is what the Lord says: Because you have spared the man I said must be destroyed, now you must die in his place, and your people will die instead of his people.”

The prophet said to him,“ This is what the LORD says:‘ Because you released from your hand the man I had set apart for destruction, it will be your life in place of his life and your people in place of his people.’”

And the prophet said to him,“ This is what the Lord says:‘ Since you have let go from your hand the man I had designated for destruction, your life shall be forfeited in place of his life, and your people in place of his people.’ ”

Then he said to him,“ Thus says the Lord:‘ Because you have let slip out of your hand a man whom I appointed to utter destruction, therefore your life shall go for his life, and your people for his people.’”

And he said unto him, Thus saith Jehovah, Because thou hast let go out of thy hand the man whom I had devoted to destruction, therefore thy life shall go for his life, and thy people for his people.

The prophet said to him,“ This is what the Lord says:‘ Because you released from your hand the man I had set apart for destruction, it will be your life in place of his life and your people in place of his people.’”

And he said unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Because thou hast let go out of[ thy] hand a man whom I appointed to utter destruction, therefore thy life shall go for his life, and thy people for his people.

The prophet then said to him,“ This is what the LORD says,‘ Because you released a man I had determined should die, you will pay with your life and your people will suffer instead of his people.’”

He said to him,“ Yahweh says,‘ Because you have let go out of your hand the man whom I had devoted to destruction, therefore your life will take the place of his life, and your people take the place of his people.’”

亞蘭王曾經囑咐他的三十二個戰車長說：“無論大小將兵，你們都不要與他們爭戰，只要與以色列王爭戰。”戰車長們看見約沙法的時候，就說：“這人必是以色列王。”他們就轉過去與他爭戰，約沙法便喊叫起來。戰車長們一見他不是以色列王，就轉回來，不追趕他了。有一個人隨便射了一箭，竟射中了以色列王鐵甲與護胸甲之間的地方。王對駕車的說：“你把車轉過來，載我離開戰場吧！我受了重傷。”那一天戰爭不斷升級，有人扶著王站在車上抵擋亞蘭人。到了黃昏，王就死了；血從傷口流到戰車的底下去。約在日落的時候，有命令傳遍軍中說：“各歸各城，各歸各地吧。”王死了以後，人們把他送回撒瑪利亞，埋葬在那裡。

王從那裡經過的時候，他向王呼叫說：“你僕人出征，在戰陣之中，忽然有一個人轉過來，帶了另一個人來見我，說：‘你看守這個人，他若是走失了，就要你替他償命，否則你要支付三十公斤銀子。’

哈薛說：“我主為甚麼哭起來了？”他回答：“因為我已知道你要對以色列人施行的惡事。他們的城堡，你要放火焚燒；他們的年輕人，你要用刀殺死；他們的嬰孩，你要摔死；他們的孕婦，你要剖開。”

有一人隨意拉弓，竟射進了以色列王的鎧甲中間的縫隙裡。王對駕車的說：“你把車轉過來，載我出陣吧，因為我受了重傷。”那天戰事越來越激烈；以色列王勉強站在戰車上，對抗亞蘭人，直到黃昏。日落的時候，王就死了。

後來，亞蘭王便．哈達徵召他全部的軍隊上來圍困撒瑪利亞。

便．哈達對王說：“我父親從你父親奪得的眾城，我都必還給你；你可以為自己在大馬士革設立市場，像我父親在撒瑪利亞設立市場一樣。”亞哈說：“我與你立了這樣的約，就放你去。”於是他和便．哈達立了約，就放他走了。

但掃羅和眾人憐惜亞甲，也愛惜上好的牛羊、肥牛犢、羊羔和一切美好的東西。他們不願徹底毀滅這些；凡是卑賤的、沒有價值的，他們就徹底毀滅。耶和華的話臨到撒母耳說：“我後悔立了掃羅為王，因為他已經離去不跟隨我，也不執行我的命令了。”撒母耳非常忿怒，整夜哀求耶和華。
