制造偶像的真是无用，他们珍爱的偶像毫无价值。拜神像的人目盲眼瞎，愚昧无知，自找羞辱。

在困苦流离中，耶路撒冷想起昔日的荣华。如今，她的人民落在敌人手中，无人援救。仇敌看见她，都嘲笑她的灭亡。

不要听希西迦的话。亚述王说，‘你们要跟我讲和，出来归顺我，你们就可以吃自己葡萄树和无花果树的果子，喝自己井里的水。以后我会来领你们到一个地方，那里和这里一样有五谷和新酒、饼和葡萄园。你们就可以存活，不至于死。希西迦说耶和华会拯救你们，不要听信他的话。

你们这群牧人啊，要悲哀哭泣！你们这群百姓的首领啊，要在灰尘中伤心地打滚！因为你们被宰杀、驱散的时候到了，你们将像精美的器皿一样被摔得粉碎。

大卫说：“我实在为难！不过我宁愿落在耶和华的手中，也不愿落在人的手中，因为耶和华有无限的怜悯。”
