( There was never anyone like Ahab, who sold himself to do evil in the eyes of the Lord, urged on by Jezebel his wife.

There was never anyone like Ahab. He gave himself over to do what was evil in the sight of the Lord. His wife Jezebel talked him into it.

( There was none who sold himself to do what was evil in the sight of the Lord like Ahab, whom Jezebel his wife incited.

( No one else so completely sold himself to what was evil in the Lord’s sight as Ahab did under the influence of his wife Jezebel.

Still, there was no one like Ahab, who devoted himself to do what was evil in the LORD’s sight, because his wife Jezebel incited him.

There certainly was no one like Ahab who gave himself over to do evil in the sight of the Lord, because Jezebel his wife incited him.

But there was no one like Ahab who sold himself to do wickedness in the sight of the Lord, because Jezebel his wife stirred him up.

( But there was none like unto Ahab, who did sell himself to do that which was evil in the sight of Jehovah, whom Jezebel his wife stirred up.

Still, there was no one like Ahab, who devoted himself to do what was evil in the Lord’s sight, because his wife Jezebel incited him.

King Solomon, however, loved many foreign women besides Pharaoh’s daughter— Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Sidonians and Hittites.They were from nations about which the Lord had told the Israelites,“ You must not intermarry with them, because they will surely turn your hearts after their gods.” Nevertheless, Solomon held fast to them in love.He had seven hundred wives of royal birth and three hundred concubines, and his wives led him astray.As Solomon grew old, his wives turned his heart after other gods, and his heart was not fully devoted to the Lord his God, as the heart of David his father had been. Jezebel his wife said,“ Is this how you act as king over Israel? Get up and eat! Cheer up. I’ll get you the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite.” (niv)

But she was not able to,because Herod feared John and protected him, knowing him to be a righteous and holy man. When Herod heard John, he was greatly puzzled; yet he liked to listen to him.Finally the opportune time came. On his birthday Herod gave a banquet for his high officials and military commanders and the leading men of Galilee.When the daughter of Herodias came in and danced, she pleased Herod and his dinner guests. The king said to the girl,“ Ask me for anything you want, and I’ll give it to you.”And he promised her with an oath,“ Whatever you ask I will give you, up to half my kingdom.”She went out and said to her mother,“ What shall I ask for?”“ The head of John the Baptist,” she answered.At once the girl hurried in to the king with the request:“ I want you to give me right now the head of John the Baptist on a platter.”The king was greatly distressed, but because of his oaths and his dinner guests, he did not want to refuse her.So he immediately sent an executioner with orders to bring John’s head. The man went, beheaded John in the prison, (niv)

For this is what the Lord says:“ You were sold for nothing, and without money you will be redeemed.” (niv)

The mouth of an adulterous woman is a deep pit; a man who is under the Lord’s wrath falls into it. (niv)

I am using an example from everyday life because of your human limitations. Just as you used to offer yourselves as slaves to impurity and to ever- increasing wickedness, so now offer yourselves as slaves to righteousness leading to holiness. (niv)

We know that the law is spiritual; but I am unspiritual, sold as a slave to sin. (niv)
