先前的事，我從前就宣告了，已經從我的口發出了，是由我告知的；我突然行動，事情就成就了。我知道你是頑梗的，你的頸項是鐵的，你的額頭是銅的，因此我從前就向你宣告了，在事情臨到之前就告知你了，免得你說：『這些是我的偶像所行的，是我雕刻和鑄造的偶像所命定的。』

耶和華宣告：『你們不要像你們的祖先！先前的眾先知呼喚他們，說：「萬軍之耶和華如此說：現在你們要回轉離開自己邪惡的道路和邪惡的行為！」他們卻不聽從，也不留心聽我的話。你們的祖先，他們在哪裡呢？那些先知，他們會永遠活著嗎？然而我吩咐我僕人眾先知的話語和律例，不都追上了你們的祖先嗎？於是他們回轉，說：萬軍之耶和華照著我們的道路和行為決意怎樣對待我們，他就怎樣對待了我們。』」

我破壞假先知的預兆，使占卜者顯為愚妄；我顛覆了智慧人，使他們的知識變為愚拙；是我實現我僕人的話語，成就我使者們的籌算；我論耶路撒冷說：『必有人居住』，又論猶大各城說：『必被重建，我必使它們從廢墟中興起』；
