所罗门上到耶和华面前会幕的铜坛那里，献一千牺牲为燔祭。当夜，神向所罗门显现，对他说：“你愿我赐你什么，你可以求。”所罗门对神说：“你曾向我父大卫大施慈爱，使我接续他作王。耶和华神啊，现在求你成就向我父大卫所应许的话；因你立我作这民的王，他们如同地上尘沙那样多。求你赐我智慧聪明，我好在这民前出入；不然，谁能判断这众多的民呢？”神对所罗门说：“我已立你作我民的王。你既有这心意，并不求资财、丰富、尊荣，也不求灭绝那恨你之人的性命，又不求大寿数，只求智慧聪明好判断我的民；我必赐你智慧聪明，也必赐你资财、丰富、尊荣。在你以前的列王都没有这样，在你以后也必没有这样的。”

摩西在旷野所造之耶和华的帐幕和燔祭坛都在基遍的高处；

所罗门王用牛二万二千，羊十二万献祭。这样，王和众民为神的殿行奉献之礼。

黎巴嫩的树林不够当柴烧；其中的走兽也不够作燔祭。

我朝见耶和华，在至高神面前跪拜，当献上什么呢？岂可献一岁的牛犊为燔祭吗？耶和华岂喜悦千千的公羊，或是万万的油河吗？我岂可为自己的罪过献我的长子吗？为心中的罪恶献我身所生的吗？

耶和华就二次向所罗门显现，如先前在基遍向他显现一样，

犹大王希西家赐给会众公牛一千只，羊七千只为祭物；众首领也赐给会众公牛一千只，羊一万只，并有许多的祭司洁净自己。

就甚惧怕；因为基遍是一座大城，如都城一般，比艾城更大，并且城内的人都是勇士。

基遍的居民听见约书亚向耶利哥和艾城所行的事，

会众所奉的燔祭如下：公牛七十只，公羊一百只，羊羔二百只，这都是作燔祭献给耶和华的；又有分别为圣之物，公牛六百只，绵羊三千只。但祭司太少，不能剥尽燔祭牲的皮，所以他们的弟兄利未人帮助他们，直等燔祭的事完了，又等别的祭司自洁了；因为利未人诚心自洁，胜过祭司。燔祭和平安祭牲的脂油，并燔祭同献的奠祭甚多。这样，耶和华殿中的事务俱都齐备了。

所罗门向耶和华献平安祭，用牛二万二千，羊十二万。这样，王和以色列众民为耶和华的殿行奉献之礼。
