So give your servant a discerning heart to govern your people and to distinguish between right and wrong. For who is able to govern this great people of yours?”

So give me a heart that understands. Then I can rule over your people. I can tell the difference between what is right and what is wrong. Who can possibly rule over this great nation of yours?”

Give your servant therefore an understanding mind to govern your people, that I may discern between good and evil, for who is able to govern this your great people?”

惟粒食宜於成人、因其習練、而才識明通、能別夫善惡也、

呼籲明哲、揚聲以求通達、尋之如銀、索之如寶、則必知寅畏耶和華、得識上帝、蓋耶和華錫予智慧、知識通明、出於其口、為正直者蓄真智、為行端者之盾干、守公平之道、衛聖民之途、爾則達義理、公平正直、及諸善路、

我於己無所能行、惟依所聞而鞫、我鞫乃義、以我不求己旨、求遣我者之旨耳、

上帝歟、以爾讞才賜王、以爾公義賜王子兮、彼必判爾民以義、判爾貧民以公兮、

耶和華之神必臨之、即智慧明哲之神、謀畧才能之神、知識與寅畏耶和華之神也、彼以寅畏耶和華為悅、不依目見而鞫、不依耳聞而擬、秉公義以鞫貧乏者、持中正以擬世之謙卑者、以口杖擊斯土、以脣氣殺惡人、

得智慧愈於得金、獲明哲愈於獲銀、

願耶和華賦爾睿智聰明、使爾受命治以色列、守爾上帝耶和華之律、

非言自能有所揆度、我之能由上帝而已、

祈賜我聰明智慧、使於民前出入、斯民若是之多、孰能聽其訟乎、

畀我明哲、我則守爾律、一心遵之兮、

爾之法度、永為公義、畀予明哲、我則生存兮、○

勿為愚、務悉主旨、

摩西對曰、主歟、我素無才辯、爾語僕之後亦然、訥於口、鈍於舌、耶和華曰、造人之口者誰乎、使人或瘖或聾、或明或瞽者誰乎、非我耶和華乎、今其往哉、我必助爾之口、以所當言示爾、曰、主歟、請遣所欲遣者、

能聞之耳、能見之目、俱耶和華所造、

哲人之智、在識己道、蠢者之愚、在其自欺、

邑有貧而智者、用智以拯其城、而無人記憶之、我則曰、智愈於力、然貧者之智、為人蔑視、言不見聽、智者之言、靜而聽之、愈於魁愚人者之喧呼、智慧愈於戰具、僅一罪人、能敗諸善、

我曰、噫、主耶和華歟、我乃小子、不知所言、

獲智慧、得明哲者、其人福矣、得之愈於得銀、其利愈於精金、貴於珍珠、凡可慕者、無足比擬、右持壽考、左執富貴、其道安樂、其徑平康、持之者以為生命之樹、守之者咸有福祉、

爾手締造我、建立我、其以明哲賜我、俾我學爾誡命兮、

惟自上之智、則首貞潔、次和平、溫良、柔順、充以矜恤與善果、無貳無偽、

摩西對上帝曰、我何人斯、得詣法老、而導以色列人出埃及乎、曰、我必偕爾、既導民出埃及、爾曹必於是山崇事上帝、以此為我遣爾之徵、○

智之美同於業、有益於凡睹日光者、

夫屬血氣者、不納上帝聖神之事、以之為愚、且不能識、以其事乃由心靈而擬也、惟屬靈之人、則擬萬事、而己不為人所擬、

約翰辭曰、我應受洗於爾、爾乃就我乎、

以色列眾聞王所判、知其具有上帝之智慧以行鞫、遂咸寅畏焉、

夫我洗爾以水、俾爾改悔、但後我來者、尤勝於我、即攜其履、我亦弗堪、彼將洗爾以聖神及火焉、

於此為由死致死之臭味、於彼為由生致生之臭味、孰堪任此乎、

俾我子所羅門、盡心守爾誡命、法度典章、成此諸事、以我所備者建造殿宇、○

致能驗至善、純粹無疵、迄於基督之日、

智慧使哲人有能、愈於邑中十有司、
