Solomon conscripted the descendants of all these peoples remaining in the land— whom the Israelites could not exterminate— to serve as slave labor, as it is to this day.

They were children of the people who had lived in the land before the Israelites came. Those people had been set apart to the Lord in a special way to be destroyed. But the Israelites hadn’t been able to kill all of them. Solomon forced them to work very hard as his slaves. And they still work for Israel as slaves to this day.

便雅悯人没有赶走居住在耶路撒冷的耶布斯人，耶布斯人至今仍和他们住在一起。

就说：“迦南该受咒诅，必做他弟兄的仆人的仆人。”又说：“闪的上帝耶和华当受称颂！迦南要做闪的仆人。

以色列人、祭司、利未人、殿役和所罗门仆人的子孙住在犹大各城自己的家中，有些来自犹大和便雅悯的人住在耶路撒冷。以下是住在耶路撒冷的犹大省首领：犹大人中有法勒斯的子孙、乌西雅的儿子亚他雅。乌西雅是撒迦利雅的儿子，撒迦利雅是亚玛利雅的儿子，亚玛利雅是示法提雅的儿子，示法提雅是玛勒列的儿子。

所罗门仆人的子孙有琐太的子孙、琐斐列的子孙、比路大的子孙、雅拉的子孙、达昆的子孙、吉德的子孙、示法提雅的子孙、哈替的子孙、玻黑列·哈斯巴音的子孙和亚米的子孙。殿役和所罗门仆人的子孙共三百九十二人。

所罗门仆人的后裔有琐太的子孙、琐斐列的子孙、比路大的子孙、

耶和华向他们发怒，说：“这百姓违背了我跟他们祖先所立的约，不听从我的话。因此，我不再逐出约书亚去世时还没有赶走的外族人，我要借此试验以色列人，看他们是否像他们祖先一样谨遵我的道。”这就是为什么耶和华留下那些外族人，没有立刻把他们赶走，也没有把他们交在约书亚手中。耶和华为了考验那些没有经历过迦南战事的以色列人，让他们学习作战，就留下了以下各族：

他们答道：“那些地方不够我们住，何况住在伯·善一带和耶斯列平原的迦南人都有铁战车。”约书亚对约瑟的子孙以法莲人和玛拿西人说：“你们人口众多，势力强大，不应只得一签之地，山区也要分给你们，虽然全是森林，但可以开辟土地，使整个地区归你们。虽然迦南人强盛，有铁战车，但你们能够赶走他们。”

他们没有照耶和华的命令消灭外族人，反倒与他们混居，仿效他们的习俗，拜他们的神像，陷入网罗。

所罗门征召劳役兴建耶和华的殿、自己的王宫、米罗堡和耶路撒冷的城墙以及夏琐、米吉多和基色。

所罗门王从以色列征集了三万劳工，

玛拿西人没有赶走伯·善、他纳、多珥、以伯莲和米吉多众城邑及周围村庄的居民，因为这些迦南人执意住在那里。以色列人强盛时，就强迫他们服劳役，却没有全部赶走他们。以法莲人没有赶走住在基色的迦南人，这些迦南人仍然住在他们当中。西布伦人没有赶走基伦和拿哈拉的居民，这些迦南人仍然住在他们当中，为他们服劳役。亚设人没有赶走亚柯、西顿、亚黑拉、亚革悉、黑巴、亚弗革和利合的居民，于是亚设人住在这些迦南人当中。拿弗他利人没有赶走伯·示麦和伯·亚纳的居民，于是就住在这些迦南人当中，强迫他们服劳役。亚摩利人强迫但人住在山区，不准他们下到平原。亚摩利人执意住在希烈山、亚雅伦和沙宾，但约瑟家族强盛时，就强迫他们服劳役。
