爾既為順命之子、則毋如昔蒙昩之時、放縱嗜慾、

As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance.

You should obey your Father. You shouldn’t give in to evil desires. They controlled your life when you didn’t know any better.

So you must live as God’s obedient children. Don’t slip back into your old ways of living to satisfy your own desires. You didn’t know any better then.

勿效乎此世、爾心維新而自化、使爾明辨天主之旨、其旨至善可悅且純全者也、

使爾曹今後不從人慾、而順天主之旨、以度在世所餘之光陰、我從異邦人之意、邪侈、縱慾、放飲、饕餮、沈湎、更行拜偶像可憎之事、往時如是已足矣、

勿縱慾如彼不知天主之異邦人、

所行乃循今世之俗、從在空中掌權之君、即今誘惑悖逆不順者之神、

昔我儕亦無知、背逆、迷惑、役於嗜慾及諸淫佚、常行暴很媢嫉之事、且為人所惡、而彼此相惡、惟我救主天主矜憐仁愛顯著之時、拯救我、非由我行義之功、乃由其矜恤、使我受洗重生、賜我聖神以復新、原文作拯救我非由我行義之功乃由重生之洗與聖神之復新而救我儕

故當滅爾在地之肢體所作之罪、即姦淫、污穢、邪侈、惡慾、貪婪、貪婪與拜偶像同罪、因此諸事天主之震怒、臨於不信之人、昔爾生於罪惡中、亦曾行之、

其心蒙昩、愚頑無知、而棄天主生命之道、既失良心、則自棄、逞其邪侈、貪欲無度、行諸污穢、爾曹學基督乃不若是、蓋爾已聞之、且因受教而信之、循耶穌之真、當去爾前行、脫爾舊人、即被惑人之嗜慾見壞者、

往時世人蒙昧、天主不究、今乃命眾隨在悔改、

勿為人之虛言所誘、蓋緣如此之事、天主怒、臨於不信從之人、

故我儕為其死受洗禮、是與基督同葬、基督以父之榮、由死復生、我儕從此新生以行、亦如是、
