Then Samuel said to the people,“ Come, let us all go to Gilgal to renew the kingdom.”

Then Samuel said to the people,“ Come, let us go to Gilgal and there renew the kingship.”

But when the citizens of Ashdod went to see it the next morning, Dagon had fallen with his face to the ground in front of the Ark of the Lord! So they took Dagon and put him in his place again.

All these men came in battle array to Hebron with the single purpose of making David the king over all Israel. In fact, everyone in Israel agreed that David should be their king.They feasted and drank with David for three days, for preparations had been made by their relatives for their arrival.
