Then David said to Abiathar the priest, the son of Ahimelech,“ Please bring me the ephod.” So Abiathar brought the ephod to David.And David inquired of the Lord, saying,“ Shall I pursue this band of raiders? Will I overtake them?” And He said to him,“ Pursue, for you will certainly overtake them, and you will certainly rescue everyone.”

And the sons of Israel inquired of the Lord( for the ark of the covenant of God was there in those days,and Phinehas the son of Eleazar, Aaron’s son, stood before it to minister in those days), saying,“ Shall I yet again go out to battle against the sons of my brother Benjamin, or shall I stop?” And the Lord said,“ Go up, for tomorrow I will hand them over to you.”

Let’s take the ark of the covenant of the Lord from Shiloh, so that He may come among us and save us from the power of our enemies.”So the people sent men to Shiloh, and from there they carried the ark of the covenant of the Lord of armies who is enthroned above the cherubim; and the two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, were there with the ark of the covenant of God.And as the ark of the covenant of the Lord was coming into the camp, all Israel shouted with a great shout, so that the earth resounded.
