起來，進城去！你應當作的事，一定有人告訴你。”

有二百人從耶路撒冷應邀與押沙龍同去。他們都是誠誠實實地去，對內情一點也不知道。

耶西就派人去把大衛帶回來。他面色紅潤，眼目清秀，外貌英俊。耶和華說：“就是這一個，你起來膏立他吧！”撒母耳就拿起盛油的角，在他的兄長中膏立他。從那天起，耶和華的靈就大大感動大衛。後來撒母耳動身往拉瑪去了。

“你進了耶和華你的神賜給你的地，佔領了那地，居住在那裡的時候，如果你說：‘我要立一位君王治理我，像我四圍的列國一樣。’你總要立耶和華你的神揀選的人作君王管理你；你要從你的兄弟中立一位作你的君王；不可立你的兄弟以外的人作王管理你。

那些少女回答他們說：“在這裡！他就在你們前面，現在快去吧！他今天正到這城裡來，因為今天在邱壇上，人民有獻祭的事。你們一進城，在他登上邱壇吃祭物之前，必遇見他。因為他未到，眾人不能先吃，他必先為祭物祝謝，然後客人才可以吃。現在你們上去吧！今天，你們必可遇見他。”

耶穌又用比喻對他們說：“天國好像一個王，為兒子擺設婚筵。他派僕人去叫被邀請的人來參加婚筵。但他們不肯來。他再派另一些僕人去，說：‘你們告訴被邀請的人，我已經預備好了筵席，公牛和肥畜已經宰了，一切都預備妥當。來參加婚筵吧！’
