Samuel did what the Lord commanded and came to Bethlehem. The elders of the city came to meet him trembling and said,“ Do you come peaceably?”

Samuel did what the Lord said. When he arrived at Bethlehem, the elders of the town trembled when they met him. They asked,“ Do you come in peace?”

Peace, peace to you, and peace to your helpers! For your God helps you.” Then David received them and made them officers of his troops.

As for me, when I came from Paddan, to my sorrow Rachel died in the land of Canaan on the way, when there was still some distance to go to Ephrath, and I buried her there on the way to Ephrath( that is, Bethlehem).”

And David was afraid of the Lord that day, and he said,“ How can the ark of the Lord come to me?”

But when Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying,“ Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord.”

Then all the people of the surrounding country of the Gerasenes asked him to depart from them, for they were seized with great fear. So he got into the boat and returned.
