David’s oldest brother Eliab heard him speaking with the men. So Eliab became very angry with him. Eliab asked David,“ Why have you come down here? Who is taking care of those few sheep in the desert for you? I know how proud you are. I know how evil your heart is. The only reason you came down here was to watch the battle.”

When Eliab, David’s oldest brother, heard him speaking with the men, he burned with anger at him and asked,“ Why have you come down here? And with whom did you leave those few sheep in the wilderness? I know how conceited you are and how wicked your heart is; you came down only to watch the battle.”

Now Eliab his eldest brother heard when he spoke to the men. And Eliab’s anger was kindled against David, and he said,“ Why have you come down? And with whom have you left those few sheep in the wilderness? I know your presumption and the evil of your heart, for you have come down to see the battle.”

But when David’s oldest brother, Eliab, heard David talking to the men, he was angry.“ What are you doing around here anyway?” he demanded.“ What about those few sheep you’re supposed to be taking care of? I know about your pride and deceit. You just want to see the battle!”

And with whom have you left those few sheep in the wilderness? I myself know your insolence and the wickedness of your heart; for you have come down in order to see the battle.”

And with whom have you left those few sheep in the wilderness? I know your pride and the insolence of your heart, for you have come down to see the battle.”

And Eliab his eldest brother heard when he spake unto the men; and Eliab’s anger was kindled against David, and he said, Why art thou come down? and with whom hast thou left those few sheep in the wilderness? I know thy pride, and the naughtiness of thy heart; for thou art come down that thou mightest see the battle.

I know thy pride, and the naughtiness of thine heart; for thou art come down that thou mightest see the battle.

When David’s oldest brother Eliab heard him speaking to the men, he became angry with David and said,“ Why have you come down here? To whom did you entrust those few sheep in the desert? I am familiar with your pride and deceit! You have come down here to watch the battle!”

Eliab his oldest brother heard when he spoke to the men; and Eliab’s anger burned against David, and he said,“ Why have you come down? With whom have you left those few sheep in the wilderness? I know your pride, and the naughtiness of your heart; for you have come down that you might see the battle.”

Joseph’s brothers saw that their father loved him more than any of them. So they hated Joseph. They couldn’t even speak one kind word to him.

A man’s enemies will be the members of his own family.’( Micah 7:6)

His brothers said to him,“ Do you plan to be king over us? Will you really rule over us?” So they hated him even more because of his dream. They didn’t like what he had said.

His brothers were jealous of him. But his father kept the dreams in mind.

A broken friendship is harder to handle than a city with high walls around it. And arguing is like the locked gates of a mighty city.

But these people say evil things against whatever they don’t understand. And the very things they do understand will destroy them. That’s because they are like wild animals that can’t think for themselves. Instead, they do what comes naturally to them.

Pilate knew that the leaders wanted to get their own way. He knew this was why they had handed Jesus over to him.

His family heard about this. So they went to take charge of him. They said,“ He is out of his mind.”

I also saw that a person works hard and accomplishes a lot. But they do it only because they want what another person has. That doesn’t have any meaning either. It’s like chasing the wind.

Mean people come forward to speak against me. They ask me things I don’t know anything about.

So Samuel got the animal horn that was filled with olive oil. He anointed David in front of his brothers. From that day on, the Spirit of the Lord came powerfully on David. Samuel went back to Ramah.

Anger is mean, and great anger overpowers you. But who can face jealousy?

But the Lord said to Samuel,“ Do not consider how handsome or tall he is. I have not chosen him. The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outside of a person. But the Lord looks at what is in the heart.”
