在我死后，即使耶和华把你所有的仇敌都毁灭了，请你仍旧恩待我的后人。”

我死了以后，耶和华从地上一一剪除大卫的仇敌的时候，你也不可向我的家永远断绝你的慈爱。”

在耶和华把大卫的每个仇敌从这地面上剪除的时候，愿你也不要对我家断绝慈爱，直到永远。”

就是我死後，耶和華從地上剪除你仇敵的時候，你也永不可向我家絕了恩惠。」

求你也永不向我家剪斷忠愛。但假使永恆主從地上剪滅了大衛每一個仇敵，

在耶和華把大衛的每個仇敵從這地面上剪除的時候，願你也不要對我家斷絕慈愛，直到永遠。」

厥後耶和華殲大衛諸敵於地時、亦勿絕爾仁慈於我家、歷世靡暨、

爾亦必施恩於我家、歲恆不絕。

至主以爾敵悉滅於地、亦勿與我家絕恩、至於永遠、或作不第我生存時爾當為主施恩於我即我死後主以爾敵俱滅於地亦勿與我家絕恩至於永遠

and do not ever cut off your kindness from my family— not even when the Lord has cut off every one of David’s enemies from the face of the earth.”

And never stop being kind to my family. Don’t stop even when the Lord has cut off every one of your enemies from the face of the earth.”

and do not cut off your steadfast love from my house forever, when the Lord cuts off every one of the enemies of David from the face of the earth.”

treat my family with this faithful love, even when the Lord destroys all your enemies from the face of the earth.”

don’t ever withdraw your kindness from my household— not even when the LORD cuts off every one of David’s enemies from the face of the earth.”

And you shall never cut off your loyalty to my house, not even when the Lord cuts off every one of the enemies of David from the face of the earth.”

but you shall not cut off your kindness from my house forever, no, not when the Lord has cut off every one of the enemies of David from the face of the earth.”

but also thou shalt not cut off thy kindness from my house for ever; no, not when Jehovah hath cut off the enemies of David every one from the face of the earth.

The king spared Mephibosheth son of Jonathan, the son of Saul, because of the oath before the Lord between David and Jonathan son of Saul. (niv)

David asked,“ Is there anyone still left of the house of Saul to whom I can show kindness for Jonathan’s sake?”Now there was a servant of Saul’s household named Ziba. They summoned him to appear before David, and the king said to him,“ Are you Ziba?”“ At your service,” he replied.The king asked,“ Is there no one still alive from the house of Saul to whom I can show God’s kindness?” Ziba answered the king,“ There is still a son of Jonathan; he is lame in both feet.”“ Where is he?” the king asked. Ziba answered,“ He is at the house of Makir son of Ammiel in Lo Debar.”So King David had him brought from Lo Debar, from the house of Makir son of Ammiel.When Mephibosheth son of Jonathan, the son of Saul, came to David, he bowed down to pay him honor. David said,“ Mephibosheth!”“ At your service,” he replied.“ Don’t be afraid,” David said to him,“ for I will surely show you kindness for the sake of your father Jonathan. I will restore to you all the land that belonged to your grandfather Saul, and you will always eat at my table.” (niv)

Now swear to me by the Lord that you will not kill off my descendants or wipe out my name from my father’s family.” (niv)
