掃羅就派人去把亞希突的兒子，亞希米勒祭司和他父親的全家，就是在挪伯的眾祭司，都召了來；他們眾人都來見王。

所以必有鬨嚷之聲攻擊你的眾民，你的一切城堡都必被毀壞，正如沙勒幔在爭戰的日子毀壞伯．亞比勒一般，有母親與兒女一同在那裡被摔死。

但掃羅和眾人憐惜亞甲，也愛惜上好的牛羊、肥牛犢、羊羔和一切美好的東西。他們不願徹底毀滅這些；凡是卑賤的、沒有價值的，他們就徹底毀滅。

有些住在亞拿突、挪伯、亞難雅、

他們把城中的一切，無論男女老幼、牛羊和驢，都用刀殺盡。

因為對不行憐憫的人，審判他們的時候就沒有憐憫；憐憫勝過審判。

就在今日，亞述王要停留在挪伯；他要揮拳攻擊錫安居民（“居民”原文作“女子”）的山，就是耶路撒冷的山。

這城要完全毀滅，城和城中的一切都歸耶和華；只有妓女喇合，和所有與她在家中的都可以存活，因為她收藏了我們派去的使者。

大衛到了挪伯祭司亞希米勒那裡，亞希米勒戰戰兢兢地迎接大衛，對他說：“你為甚麼獨自一人，沒有人跟隨你呢？”（本節在《馬索拉文本》為21:2）
