From there David went to Mizpah in Moab and said to the king of Moab,“ Would you let my father and mother come and stay with you until I learn what God will do for me?”

From there David went to Mizpah in Moab. He spoke to the king of Moab. He said,“ Please let my father and mother come and stay with you. Let them stay until I learn what God will do for me.”

And David went from there to Mizpeh of Moab. And he said to the king of Moab,“ Please let my father and my mother stay with you, till I know what God will do for me.”

Later David went to Mizpeh in Moab, where he asked the king,“ Please allow my father and mother to live here with you until I know what God is going to do for me.”

From there David went to Mizpeh of Moab where he said to the king of Moab,“ Please let my father and mother stay with you until I know what God will do for me.”

And David went from there to Mizpah of Moab; and he said to the king of Moab,“ Please let my father and my mother come and stay with you until I know what God will do for me.”

Then David went from there to Mizpah of Moab; and he said to the king of Moab,“ Please let my father and mother come here with you, till I know what God will do for me.”

And David went thence to Mizpeh of Moab: and he said unto the king of Moab, Let my father and my mother, I pray thee, come forth, and be with you, till I know what God will do for me.

From there David went to Mizpeh of Moab where he said to the king of Moab,“ Please let my father and mother stay with you until I know what God will do for me.”

Then David went from there to Mizpah in Moab, where he said to the king of Moab,“ Please let my father and mother stay with you until I know what God is going to do for me.”

掃羅取得了管理以色列的王權，常常對四圍一切的仇敵作戰，去攻打摩押、亞捫人、以東，瑣巴諸王、以及非利士人；他無論走向哪裏，全都得勝。

上帝命令說：「要孝敬父親和母親」；又說：『誹謗父親或母親的，必須死』；你們倒說：『無論何人對父親或母親說：「你可由我得益之物、已經用做獻神禮物了」；這麼一說，他便可以不必敬奉父親或母親！那就是你們竟因了你們的傳統規矩而取消上帝的話了！

所以我盼望一看出我的事要怎樣了結，就立刻打發他去；同時呢、我在主裏也深信我自己也必趕快去的。

當士師執政的日子、猶大地鬧饑荒；有一個人從猶大、伯利恆往摩押鄉間去寄居；他和他妻子跟兩個兒子一同去。這人名叫以利米勒，他妻子名叫拿俄米，他那兩個兒子名叫瑪倫和基連；都是猶大、伯利恆的以法他人；他們到了摩押鄉間，就住在那裏。後來拿俄米的丈夫以利米勒死了，剩下婦人和那兩個兒子。這兩個兒子娶了摩押的女子為妻，一個名叫俄珥巴，一個名叫路得，在那裏住了約有十年。

於是永恆主的靈感動耶弗他；耶弗他就經過基列和瑪拿西，經過基列的米斯巴，又從基列的米斯巴過去到亞捫人那裏。

也買娶了瑪倫的妻摩押女子路得為妻，好讓死者的名得以在他的產業上立起來，免得死者的名從他族弟兄中、從他故鄉之門下、被剪除：你們今天都作見證。』

王對撒督說：『你將上帝的櫃抬回城去；我若在永恆主眼前蒙恩，他就會使我回來、再見那櫃和他的居所。倘若他說：「我不喜愛你」，那麼看哪，我在這裏；願他照他所看為好的來待我。』

撒母耳就把一切的話都告訴了以利，並沒有向他隱瞞；以利說：『這是永恆主；願他照他所看為好的去行罷了。』

『要孝敬你的父親和母親，使你在永恆主你的上帝所賜給你的土地得享長壽。

鄰居的婦女們給他起名說：『拿俄米得了孩子了』；她們給孩子起名叫俄備得；這俄備得是耶西的父親，耶西是大衛的父親。

約瑟就照法老所吩咐的叫他父親和弟兄住下，將埃及地、那地最好的區域、蘭塞地、給他們做產業。

但寡婦若有兒女或孫子孫女，他們要先對自己的家學着孝敬，將回敬的奉養報答父母和祖父母：這在上帝面前是可蒙悅納的。
