豈可以我餅水、及為剪羊毛者所宰之肉、給於不知奚自之人乎、

我餅我水、我所宰之肉、當予剪毛者、豈可賜於不知奚自者乎、

我餅我水、及我為翦羊毛者所宰之肉、豈可予我不知奚自之人乎、

Why should I take my bread and water, and the meat I have slaughtered for my shearers, and give it to men coming from who knows where?”

Why should I give away my bread and water? Why should I give away the meat I’ve prepared for those who clip the wool off my sheep? Why should I give food to men who come from who knows where?”

Shall I take my bread and my water and my meat that I have killed for my shearers and give it to men who come from I do not know where?”

Should I take my bread and my water and my meat that I’ve slaughtered for my shearers and give it to a band of outlaws who come from who knows where?”

Am I supposed to take my bread, my water, and my meat that I butchered for my shearers and give them to these men? I don’t know where they are from.”

Shall I then take my bread and my water and my meat that I have slaughtered for my shearers, and give it to men whose origin I do not know?”

疏割人的領袖回答說：「西巴和撒慕拿的手掌現在已經在你手裏，因此我們該將餅送給你的軍隊嗎？」

這人名叫拿八，他的妻子名叫亞比該。拿八的妻子有美好的見識，又有美麗的容貌，但拿八為人剛愎兇惡，是迦勒族的人。

所以，一有機會就要向眾人行善，向信徒一家的人更要這樣。

拿八的一個僕人告訴拿八的妻子亞比該說：「看哪，大衛從曠野派使者來向我主人問安，主人卻辱罵他們。但是那些人待我們真好；我們在田野與他們一切來往的日子，沒有受他們欺負，也未曾失去甚麼。

當將你的糧食撒在水面上，因為日子久了，你必能得着它。將你所擁有的分給七人，或八人，因為你不知道會有甚麼災禍臨到地上。

古人有句俗語說：『惡事出於惡人。』我卻不親手加害於你。

你心裏說：『這財富是我的力量、我手的能力得來的。』

你們要互相款待，不發怨言。

他們的眼睛因體胖而凸出，他們的內心放任不羈。他們譏笑人，憑惡意說欺壓人的話。他們說話自高；

或獨自吃自己的食物，孤兒沒有吃其中些許；

似乎不為人所知，卻是人所共知；似乎是死了，卻是活着；似乎受懲罰，卻沒有被處死；

上帝對摩西說話是我們知道的，可是這個人，我們不知道他從哪裏來。」那人回答，對他們說：「他開了我的眼睛，你們竟不知道他從哪裏來，這真是奇怪！
