大衛聽了，就吩咐眾人備刀，他自己也帶了刀去拿八那裡。大衛帶了四百人去，留下二百人看守營地。

David said to his men,“ Each of you strap on your sword!” So they did, and David strapped his on as well. About four hundred men went up with David, while two hundred stayed with the supplies.

David said to his men,“ Each of you put on your swords!” So they did. David put his sword on too. About 400 men went up with David. Two hundred men stayed behind with the supplies.

And David said to his men,“ Every man strap on his sword!” And every man of them strapped on his sword. David also strapped on his sword. And about four hundred men went up after David, while two hundred remained with the baggage.

“ Get your swords!” was David’s reply as he strapped on his own. Then 400 men started off with David, and 200 remained behind to guard their equipment.

He said to his men,“ All of you, put on your swords!” So each man put on his sword, and David also put on his sword. About four hundred men followed David while two hundred stayed with the supplies.

Then David said to his men,“ Each of you strap on his sword.” So each man strapped on his sword. And David also strapped on his sword, and about four hundred men went up behind David, while two hundred stayed with the baggage.

Then David said to his men,“ Every man gird on his sword.” So every man girded on his sword, and David also girded on his sword. And about four hundred men went with David, and two hundred stayed with the supplies.

And David said unto his men, Gird ye on every man his sword. And they girded on every man his sword; and David also girded on his sword: and there went up after David about four hundred men; and two hundred abode by the baggage.

於是，大衛率領自己的六百部下離開基伊拉，到處流浪。掃羅得知大衛已經離開基伊拉，就不去了。

熱誠卻無知不足取，行動急躁難免有錯。

智者不輕易發怒，饒恕是他的榮耀。

以色列人接受了他們的食物，卻沒有求問耶和華。

事後，大衛心裡不安，他對部下說：「我不該做這樣的事，我主是耶和華所膏立的王，我絕不出手傷害他，因為他是耶和華所膏立的。」

不輕易發怒者勝過勇士，能自我控制勝過攻陷城池。

親愛的弟兄姊妹，不要私自報復，要讓上帝來審判，因為聖經上說：「主說，『伸冤在我，我必報應。』」所以，「你的仇敵若餓了，就給他吃的；若渴了，就給他喝的；你這樣做是把炭火堆在他頭上。」你不可被惡所勝，反要以善勝惡。

不輕易發怒者深明事理，魯莽急躁的人顯出愚昧。

不可魯莽地打官司，以免敗訴、羞愧難當。

我親愛的弟兄姊妹，請記住：每個人都要快快地聽，慢慢地說，慢慢地動怒。因為人的憤怒不能成就上帝的公義。

大衛回到留在比梭溪的那二百名因為太疲乏而沒有同去的人那裡，他們出來迎接大衛和眾隨從，大衛也上前問候他們。大衛隨從中那些不良分子說：「他們沒有跟我們一起去打仗，我們搶回來的東西不應分給他們，只讓他們帶走自己的妻子和兒女就好了。」大衛說：「弟兄們，這一切是耶和華賜給我們的，我們不可不分給他們，因為是耶和華保護我們，把敵人交在了我們手裡。誰能接受你們的說法呢？上陣打仗的和看守裝備的應該得到一樣的待遇。」

於是，大衛率領六百名部下前去追趕，到了比梭溪，有二百人因為太累而不能過溪，就留在那裡。大衛率領其餘的四百人繼續追趕。
