耶穌又說：「有個財主天天衣著華麗，生活奢侈。又有一個名叫拉撒路的乞丐身上長滿了膿瘡，被人放在財主家門口。他渴望吃到財主桌上掉下來的食物殘渣，卻只有狗來舔他的瘡。「後來，乞丐死了，天使帶他到亞伯拉罕身邊。財主也死了，被人埋葬了。他在陰間受折磨，抬頭遠遠地看見亞伯拉罕和他身邊的拉撒路，就喊著說，『我的先祖亞伯拉罕啊！求你可憐我，派拉撒路用指尖蘸點水來潤潤我的舌頭吧！我在這火中實在痛苦不堪。』「亞伯拉罕說，『孩子啊！你要想想，你生前享福，而拉撒路受苦；如今他在這裡得到安慰，而你受折磨。

我看見狂傲的惡人亨通就心懷不平。他們一生平順，健康強壯。他們不像別人受苦，不像世人遭難。他們把驕傲作項鏈戴在頸上，把暴力作外袍裹在身上。他們胖得眼睛凸出，心中充滿罪惡。

這時候亞伯蘭已經擁有很多牲畜和金銀。

耶和華啊，求你伸手救我脫離這些人，脫離這些只在今生有福分的世人。你使他們財寶無數。他們兒女眾多，還把財富留給子孫。

大衛的兩個妻子耶斯列人亞希暖和拿八的遺孀迦密人亞比該也一起被擄走了。

耶和華賜給約伯晚年的福分比起初更多：他有一萬四千隻羊、六千隻駱駝、一千對牛和一千頭母驢。

兩年後，押沙龍的工人在以法蓮附近的巴力·夏瑣剪羊毛，押沙龍邀請王的眾子去那裡。他去見王，說：「我的工人正在剪羊毛，請王和眾臣僕跟我一起去吧。」

他的財富越來越多，成了大富戶。

七千隻羊、三千隻駱駝、五百對牛、五百頭母驢及許多僕婢。他在東方人中最富有。

那時，巴西萊已經是八十高齡了。王留在瑪哈念的時候，他曾供應王食物，因為他非常富有。
