西弗人就起身，在掃羅以先往西弗去。大衛和跟隨他的人卻在瑪雲曠野南邊的亞拉巴。

又有瑪雲、迦密、西弗、淤他、

「有一個財主穿着紫色袍和細麻布衣服，天天奢華宴樂。又有一個討飯的，名叫拉撒路，渾身生瘡，被人放在財主門口，要得財主桌子上掉下來的零碎充飢，並且狗來舔他的瘡。後來那討飯的死了，被天使帶去放在亞伯拉罕的懷裏。財主也死了，並且埋葬了。他在陰間受痛苦，舉目遠遠地望見亞伯拉罕，又望見拉撒路在他懷裏，就喊着說：『我祖亞伯拉罕哪，可憐我吧！打發拉撒路來，用指頭尖蘸點水，涼涼我的舌頭；因為我在這火焰裏，極其痛苦。』亞伯拉罕說：『兒啊，你該回想你生前享過福，拉撒路也受過苦；如今他在這裏得安慰，你倒受痛苦。

我見惡人和狂傲人享平安就心懷不平。他們死的時候沒有疼痛；他們的力氣卻也壯實。他們不像別人受苦，也不像別人遭災。所以，驕傲如鏈子戴在他們的項上；強暴像衣裳遮住他們的身體。他們的眼睛因體胖而凸出；他們所得的，過於心裏所想的。

亞伯蘭的金、銀、牲畜極多。

耶和華啊，求你用手救我脫離世人，脫離那只在今生有福分的世人！你把你的財寶充滿他們的肚腹；他們因有兒女就心滿意足，將其餘的財物留給他們的嬰孩。

大衛的兩個妻－耶斯列人亞希暖和作過拿八妻的迦密人亞比該，也被擄去了。

這樣，耶和華後來賜福給約伯比先前更多。他有一萬四千羊，六千駱駝，一千對牛，一千母驢。

過了二年，在靠近以法蓮的巴力‧夏瑣有人為押沙龍剪羊毛；押沙龍請王的眾子與他同去。押沙龍來見王，說：「現在有人為僕人剪羊毛，請王和王的臣僕與僕人同去。」

他就昌大，日增月盛，成了大富戶。

他的家產有七千羊，三千駱駝，五百對牛，五百母驢，並有許多僕婢。這人在東方人中就為至大。

巴西萊年紀老邁，已經八十歲了。王住在瑪哈念的時候，他就拿食物來供給王；他原是大富戶。
