Achish would ask,“ Who did you attack today?” David would answer,“ The people who live in the Negev Desert of Judah.” Or he would answer,“ The people in the Negev Desert of Jerahmeel.” Or he would answer,“ The people in the Negev Desert of the Kenites.”

When Achish asked,“ Where have you made a raid today?” David would say,“ Against the Negeb of Judah,” or,“ Against the Negeb of the Jerahmeelites,” or,“ Against the Negeb of the Kenites.”

“ Where did you make your raid today?” Achish would ask. And David would reply,“ Against the south of Judah, the Jerahmeelites, and the Kenites.”

who inquired,“ Where did you raid today?” David replied,“ The south country of Judah,”“ The south country of the Jerahmeelites,” or“ The south country of the Kenites.”

Now Achish said,“ Where did you carry out an attack today?” And David said,“ Against the Negev of Judah, against the Negev of the Jerahmeelites, and against the Negev of the Kenites.”

Then Achish would say,“ Where have you made a raid today?” And David would say,“ Against the southern area of Judah, or against the southern area of the Jerahmeelites, or against the southern area of the Kenites.”

And Achish said, Against whom have ye made a raid to- day? And David said, Against the South of Judah, and against the South of the Jerahmeelites, and against the South of the Kenites.

Moses’ father- in- law was a Kenite. His family went up from Jericho. Jericho was also known as the City of Palm Trees. His family went up with the people of Judah to the Desert of Judah. They went there to live among its people. Those people were living in the Negev Desert near Arad.

Hezron was the father of Jerahmeel, Ram and Caleb.

Here are the sons of Jerahmeel. He was the oldest son of Hezron. Ram was Jerahmeel’s oldest son. Then came Bunah, Oren, Ozem and Ahijah.

Heber, the Kenite, had left the other Kenites. They came from the family line of Hobab. He was the brother- in- law of Moses. Heber set up his tent by the large tree in Zaanannim near Kedesh.

David answered Ahimelek the priest,“ The king gave me a special job to do. He said to me,‘ I don’t want anyone to know what I’m sending you to do. So don’t say anything about it.’ I’ve told my men to meet me at a certain place.

If you are afraid of people, it will trap you. But if you trust in the Lord, he will keep you safe.

Keep me from cheating and telling lies. Be kind to me and teach me your law.

So each of you must get rid of your lying. Speak the truth to your neighbor. We are all parts of one body.
