到了早晨，法老心里不安，就派人把埃及所有的术士和智慧人都召来。法老把所做的梦告诉他们，但是没有人能为法老解梦。

法老也召了智慧人和行邪术的人来，这些埃及术士也用邪术照样做。

大声吩咐将巫师、迦勒底人和观兆的领进来。王对巴比伦的智慧人说：“谁能读这文字，并且向我讲解它的意思，他必身穿紫袍，项带金链，在我国中位列第三。”

王吩咐人将术士、巫师、行邪术的和迦勒底人召来，要他们把王的梦告诉王；他们就来，站在王面前。

“我朝见耶和华，在至高上帝面前跪拜，当献上什么呢？难道献一岁的牛犊为燔祭来朝见他吗？耶和华岂喜悦千千的公羊，或是万万的油河吗？我岂可为自己的过犯献我的长子，为自己的罪恶献我所亲生的吗？”世人哪，耶和华已指示你何为善。他向你所要的是什么呢？只要你行公义，好怜悯，存谦卑的心与你的上帝同行。耶和华向这城呼叫—看重你的名是真智慧—你们当听惩罚和派定惩罚的人。

他就召集了祭司长和民间的文士，问他们：“基督该生在哪里？”

尽管使用从幼年就施行的魔符和众多的邪术吧！或许有些帮助，或许可以致胜。你筹划太多，以致疲倦。让那些观天象，看星宿，在初一说预言的都起来，救你脱离所要临到你的事！

你离弃了你的百姓雅各家，因为他们充满了东方的习俗，又像非利士人一样观星象，并与外邦人击掌。
