From the day that the ark was lodged at Kiriath-jearim, a long time passed, some twenty years, and all the house of Israel lamented after the Lord.

“我必把那恩慈与恳求的灵倾注在大卫家和耶路撒冷居民的身上。他们必仰望我，就是他们所刺的；他们要为他哀哭，好像丧独生子；他们必为他悲痛，好像丧长子。到那日，耶路撒冷必有极大的哀哭，像在米吉多平原的哈达临门的哀哭一样。

因为依照神的意思而有的忧伤，可以生出没有懊悔的悔改，以致得救；世俗的忧伤却会招致死亡。看哪，你们依照神的意思忧伤，在你们中间就产生了怎样的热情、申诉、愤慨、战兢、渴望、热诚、正义；你们在各方面都表明了自己在那事上是清白的。
