So in all our distress and affliction, we were reassured about you, brothers and sisters, through your faith.

Therefore, brothers and sisters, in all our distress and persecution we were encouraged about you because of your faith.

So we have been greatly encouraged in the midst of our troubles and suffering, dear brothers and sisters, because you have remained strong in your faith.

who comforts us in all our troubles so that we may be able to comfort those experiencing any trouble with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.

For, I think, God has exhibited us apostles last of all, as men condemned to die, because we have become a spectacle to the world, both to angels and to people.We are fools for Christ, but you are wise in Christ! We are weak, but you are strong! You are distinguished, we are dishonored!To the present hour we are hungry and thirsty, poorly clothed, brutally treated, and without a roof over our heads.We do hard work, toiling with our own hands. When we are verbally abused, we respond with a blessing, when persecuted, we endure,when people lie about us, we answer in a friendly manner. We are the world’s dirt and scum, even now.

You, however, have followed my teaching, my way of life, my purpose, my faith, my patience, my love, my endurance,as well as the persecutions and sufferings that happened to me in Antioch, in Iconium, and in Lystra. I endured these persecutions and the Lord delivered me from them all.Now in fact all who want to live godly lives in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.

Therefore we have been encouraged. And in addition to our own encouragement, we rejoiced even more at the joy of Titus, because all of you have refreshed his spirit.

Are they servants of Christ?( I am talking like I am out of my mind!) I am even more so: with much greater labors, with far more imprisonments, with more severe beatings, facing death many times.Five times I received from the Jews forty lashes less one.Three times I was beaten with a rod. Once I received a stoning. Three times I suffered shipwreck. A night and a day I spent adrift in the open sea.I have been on journeys many times, in dangers from rivers, in dangers from robbers, in dangers from my own countrymen, in dangers from Gentiles, in dangers in the city, in dangers in the wilderness, in dangers at sea, in dangers from false brothers,in hard work and toil, through many sleepless nights, in hunger and thirst, many times without food, in cold and without enough clothing.Apart from other things, there is the daily pressure on me of my anxious concern for all the churches.

Some of them were persuaded and joined Paul and Silas, along with a large group of God- fearing Greeks and quite a few prominent women.But the Jews became jealous, and gathering together some worthless men from the rabble in the marketplace, they formed a mob and set the city in an uproar. They attacked Jason’s house, trying to find Paul and Silas to bring them out to the assembly.When they did not find them, they dragged Jason and some of the brothers before the city officials, screaming,“ These people who have stirred up trouble throughout the world have come here too,and Jason has welcomed them as guests! They are all acting against Caesar’s decrees, saying there is another king named Jesus!”They caused confusion among the crowd and the city officials who heard these things.After the city officials had received bail from Jason and the others, they released them.The brothers sent Paul and Silas off to Berea at once, during the night. When they arrived, they went to the Jewish synagogue.

But God, who encourages the downhearted, encouraged us by the arrival of Titus.We were encouraged not only by his arrival, but also by the encouragement you gave him, as he reported to us your longing, your mourning, your deep concern for me, so that I rejoiced more than ever.

For now we are alive again, if you stand firm in the Lord.For how can we thank God enough for you, for all the joy we feel because of you before our God?
