Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope.

Brothers and sisters, we want you to know what happens to those who die. We don’t want you to mourn, as other people do. They mourn because they don’t have any hope.

And now, dear brothers and sisters, we want you to know what will happen to the believers who have died so you will not grieve like people who have no hope.

We do not want you to be uninformed, brothers and sisters, concerning those who are asleep, so that you will not grieve like the rest, who have no hope.

But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers and sisters, about those who are asleep, so that you will not grieve as indeed the rest of mankind do, who have no hope.

But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope.

But we would not have you ignorant, brethren, concerning them that fall asleep; that ye sorrow not, even as the rest, who have no hope.

We do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, concerning those who are asleep, so that you will not grieve like the rest, who have no hope.

Multitudes who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake: some to everlasting life, others to shame and everlasting contempt. (niv)

They will say,“ Where is this‘ coming’ he promised? Ever since our ancestors died, everything goes on as it has since the beginning of creation.” (niv)

Then he fell on his knees and cried out,“ Lord, do not hold this sin against them.” When he had said this, he fell asleep. (niv)

He died for us so that, whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with him. (niv)

After he had said this, he went on to tell them,“ Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep; but I am going there to wake him up.”His disciples replied,“ Lord, if he sleeps, he will get better.”Jesus had been speaking of his death, but his disciples thought he meant natural sleep. (niv)

After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers and sisters at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep. (niv)

You are the children of the Lord your God. Do not cut yourselves or shave the front of your heads for the dead,for you are a people holy to the Lord your God. Out of all the peoples on the face of the earth, the Lord has chosen you to be his treasured possession. (niv)

Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ are lost.If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are of all people most to be pitied. (niv)

But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. (niv)

I do not want you to be unaware, brothers and sisters, that I planned many times to come to you( but have been prevented from doing so until now) in order that I might have a harvest among you, just as I have had among the other Gentiles. (niv)

Otherwise, as soon as my lord the king is laid to rest with his ancestors, I and my son Solomon will be treated as criminals.” (niv)

Martha answered,“ I know he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day.” (niv)

“‘ Do not cut your bodies for the dead or put tattoo marks on yourselves. I am the Lord. (niv)

We do not want you to be uninformed, brothers and sisters, about the troubles we experienced in the province of Asia. We were under great pressure, far beyond our ability to endure, so that we despaired of life itself. (niv)

For I do not want you to be ignorant of the fact, brothers and sisters, that our ancestors were all under the cloud and that they all passed through the sea. (niv)

“ Son of man, with one blow I am about to take away from you the delight of your eyes. Yet do not lament or weep or shed any tears.Groan quietly; do not mourn for the dead. Keep your turban fastened and your sandals on your feet; do not cover your mustache and beard or eat the customary food of mourners.”So I spoke to the people in the morning, and in the evening my wife died. The next morning I did as I had been commanded. (niv)

All his sons and daughters came to comfort him, but he refused to be comforted.“ No,” he said,“ I will continue to mourn until I join my son in the grave.” So his father wept for him. (niv)

David noticed that his attendants were whispering among themselves, and he realized the child was dead.“ Is the child dead?” he asked.“ Yes,” they replied,“ he is dead.”Then David got up from the ground. After he had washed, put on lotions and changed his clothes, he went into the house of the Lord and worshiped. Then he went to his own house, and at his request they served him food, and he ate. Now about the gifts of the Spirit, brothers and sisters, I do not want you to be uninformed. (niv)

The king was shaken. He went up to the room over the gateway and wept. As he went, he said:“ O my son Absalom! My son, my son Absalom! If only I had died instead of you— O Absalom, my son, my son!” (niv)
