對於已亡之人、勿過於哀傷、一如未具望德者之所為；此吾不欲兄弟之不知也。

Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope.

Brothers and sisters, we want you to know what happens to those who die. We don’t want you to mourn, as other people do. They mourn because they don’t have any hope.

But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope.

And now, dear brothers and sisters, we want you to know what will happen to the believers who have died so you will not grieve like people who have no hope.

But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers and sisters, about those who are asleep, so that you will not grieve as indeed the rest of mankind do, who have no hope.

But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope.

But we would not have you ignorant, brethren, concerning them that fall asleep; that ye sorrow not, even as the rest, who have no hope.

Many who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake, some to eternal life, and some to disgrace and eternal contempt.

saying,“ Where is his‘ coming’ that he promised? Ever since our ancestors fell asleep, all things continue as they have been since the beginning of creation.”

He knelt down and cried out with a loud voice,“ Lord, do not hold this sin against them!” And after saying this, he fell asleep.

who died for us, so that whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with him.

Then David rested with his ancestors and was buried in the city of David.

But I know that my Redeemer lives, and at the end he will stand on the dust.Even after my skin has been destroyed, yet I will see God in my flesh.I will see him myself; my eyes will look at him, and not as a stranger. My heart longs within me.

The wicked one is thrown down by his own sin, but the righteous one has a refuge in his death.

Everyone was crying and mourning for her. But he said,“ Stop crying, because she is not dead but asleep.”They laughed at him, because they knew she was dead.

Then he said to me,“ Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel. Look how they say,‘ Our bones are dried up, and our hope has perished; we are cut off.’

For we say this to you by a word from the Lord: We who are still alive at the Lord’s coming will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep.

“ You are sons of the LORD your God; do not cut yourselves or make a bald spot on your head on behalf of the dead,for you are a holy people belonging to the LORD your God. The LORD has chosen you to be his own possession out of all the peoples on the face of the earth.

The tombs were also opened and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised.

Those, then, who have fallen asleep in Christ have also perished.If we have put our hope in Christ for this life only, we should be pitied more than anyone.

Dear friends, don’t overlook this one fact: With the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years like one day.

Now I don’t want you to be unaware, brothers and sisters, that I often planned to come to you( but was prevented until now) in order that I might have a fruitful ministry among you, just as I have had among the rest of the Gentiles.

Otherwise, when my lord the king rests with his ancestors, I and my son Solomon will be regarded as criminals.”

Martha said to him,“ I know that he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day.”

You are not to make gashes on your bodies for the dead or put tattoo marks on yourselves; I am the LORD.

We don’t want you to be unaware, brothers and sisters, of our affliction that took place in Asia. We were completely overwhelmed— beyond our strength— so that we even despaired of life itself.

“ Son of man, I am about to take the delight of your eyes away from you with a fatal blow. But you must not lament or weep or let your tears flow.Groan quietly; do not observe mourning rites for the dead. Put on your turban and strap your sandals on your feet; do not cover your mustache or eat the bread of mourners.”I spoke to the people in the morning, and my wife died in the evening. The next morning I did just as I was commanded.

All his sons and daughters tried to comfort him, but he refused to be comforted.“ No,” he said.“ I will go down to Sheol to my son, mourning.” And his father wept for him.

When David saw that his servants were whispering to each other, he guessed that the baby was dead. So he asked his servants,“ Is the baby dead?”“ He is dead,” they replied.Then David got up from the ground. He washed, anointed himself, changed his clothes, went to the LORD’s house, and worshiped. Then he went home and requested something to eat. So they served him food, and he ate.

Now concerning spiritual gifts: brothers and sisters, I do not want you to be unaware.

The king was deeply moved and went up to the chamber above the city gate and wept. As he walked, he cried,“ My son Absalom! My son, my son Absalom! If only I had died instead of you, Absalom, my son, my son!”

saying: Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked I will leave this life. The LORD gives, and the LORD takes away. Blessed be the name of the LORD.
