嫠獨處無倚、惟上帝是賴、晝夜祈禱、

孑遺無依之寡婦、惟天主是賴、晝夜恆於祈禱、

寡婦守節、而一無倚靠者、必能一心仰望天主、恆常祈禱、不舍晝夜。

要敬重和幫助那些真正有需要的寡婦。

我希望你們無牽無掛。未婚的男子可以專心於主的事，想著怎樣討主的喜悅。

從前那些仰賴上帝的聖潔婦女，都是以這些來妝飾自己，並順服自己的丈夫，

女信徒的家裡若有寡婦，就應該自己照顧她們，免得加重教會的負擔，這樣教會才能照顧那些真正無依無靠的寡婦。

耶穌講了一個比喻來教導門徒要常常禱告，不要灰心。

你們中間誰敬畏耶和華，聽從祂僕人的話？行在黑暗中、沒有光的人要信靠耶和華的名，仰賴自己的上帝。

你會在心裡問，『我喪失了兒女、不再生育、流亡在外、漂流不定，誰給我生了這些兒女？誰把他們養大？我孤身一人，他們是從哪裡來的？』」

「看啊，上帝是我的拯救，我要倚靠祂，不會懼怕。耶和華上帝是我的力量，是我的詩歌，祂成了我的拯救者。」

「祂從高天降下火來，焚燒我的骨頭；祂在我腳前設下網羅，使我返回；祂使我淒涼孤寂，終日痛苦。

錫安的城門必悲傷、哀哭，錫安必空空地坐在地上。

難道上帝聽到祂揀選的人晝夜呼求，不替他們伸冤嗎？難道祂會一直耽延不理嗎？

耶和華說：「不生育、未生養的婦人啊，要歡唱；未曾生產的女子啊，要高歌、歡呼；因為沒有丈夫的比有丈夫的兒女更多。

要靠著聖靈隨時多方禱告和祈求，警醒不怠地為眾聖徒禱告。

我們十二支派日夜虔誠地事奉上帝，盼望這應許能夠實現。王啊！就是因為我有這樣的盼望，才被猶太人控告。

祂必用祂的羽毛遮蓋你，用祂的雙翼保護你，祂的信實是你的盾牌和壁壘。

願耶和華照你所行的獎賞你！你來投靠在以色列的上帝耶和華的翅膀下，願祂厚厚地賞賜你。」

難免分心。沒有丈夫的婦女和處女可以專心於主的事，叫身體和心靈都聖潔；已婚的婦女掛慮世上的事，想著如何取悅丈夫。

也可以說是藉著我們彼此的信心互相激勵。

自從創造天地以來，上帝永恆的大能和神性是明明可知的，雖然肉眼看不見，但透過受造之物就可以領悟，因而人類毫無藉口推說不知。他們雖然明知有上帝，卻不把祂當作上帝，既不將榮耀歸給祂，也不感謝祂。他們的思想因此變得荒謬無用，無知的心也變得昏暗不明。

我們從祂領受了恩典並成為使徒，要帶領萬民信從祂，使祂的名得榮耀。
