And when the angel which spake unto Cornelius was departed, he called two of his household servants, and a devout soldier of them that waited on him continually;

Servants, be obedient to them that are[ your] masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ;Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart;With good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men:Knowing that whatsoever good thing any man doeth, the same shall he receive of the Lord, whether[ he be] bond or free.

Art thou called[ being] a servant? care not for it: but if thou mayest be made free, use[ it] rather.For he that is called in the Lord,[ being] a servant, is the Lord’s freeman: likewise also he that is called,[ being] free, is Christ’s servant.

Now therefore why tempt ye God, to put a yoke upon the neck of the disciples, which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear?

And the angel of the LORD said unto her, Return to thy mistress, and submit thyself under her hands.

I was wroth with my people, I have polluted mine inheritance, and given them into thine hand: thou didst shew them no mercy; upon the ancient hast thou very heavily laid thy yoke.

And she said, The daughter of Bethuel, Nahor’s son, whom Milcah bare unto him: and I put the earring upon her face, and the bracelets upon her hands.And I bowed down my head, and worshipped the LORD, and blessed the LORD God of my master Abraham, which had led me in the right way to take my master’s brother’s daughter unto his son.And now if ye will deal kindly and truly with my master, tell me: and if not, tell me; that I may turn to the right hand, or to the left.Then Laban and Bethuel answered and said, The thing proceedeth from the LORD: we cannot speak unto thee bad or good.Behold, Rebekah[ is] before thee, take[ her], and go, and let her be thy master’s son’s wife, as the LORD hath spoken.And it came to pass, that, when Abraham’s servant heard their words, he worshipped the LORD,[ bowing himself] to the earth.And the servant brought forth jewels of silver, and jewels of gold, and raiment, and gave[ them] to Rebekah: he gave also to her brother and to her mother precious things.And they did eat and drink, he and the men that[ were] with him, and tarried all night; and they rose up in the morning, and he said, Send me away unto my master.And her brother and her mother said, Let the damsel abide with us[ a few] days, at the least ten; after that she shall go.And he said unto them, Hinder me not, seeing the LORD hath prospered my way; send me away that I may go to my master.And they said, We will call the damsel, and enquire at her mouth.And they called Rebekah, and said unto her, Wilt thou go with this man? And she said, I will go.And they sent away Rebekah their sister, and her nurse, and Abraham’s servant, and his men.And they blessed Rebekah, and said unto her, Thou[ art] our sister, be thou[ the mother] of thousands of millions, and let thy seed possess the gate of those which hate them.And Rebekah arose, and her damsels, and they rode upon the camels, and followed the man: and the servant took Rebekah, and went his way.And Isaac came from the way of the well Lahairoi; for he dwelt in the south country.And Isaac went out to meditate in the field at the eventide: and he lifted up his eyes, and saw, and, behold, the camels[ were] coming.And Rebekah lifted up her eyes, and when she saw Isaac, she lighted off the camel.For she[ had] said unto the servant, What man[ is] this that walketh in the field to meet us? And the servant[ had] said, It[ is] my master: therefore she took a vail, and covered herself.And the servant told Isaac all things that he had done.And Isaac brought her into his mother Sarah’s tent, and took Rebekah, and she became his wife; and he loved her: and Isaac was comforted after his mother’s[ death].

And Abraham said unto his eldest servant of his house, that ruled over all that he had, Put, I pray thee, thy hand under my thigh:

Now therefore, what have I here, saith the LORD, that my people is taken away for nought? they that rule over them make them to howl, saith the LORD; and my name continually every day[ is] blasphemed.

Sound speech, that cannot be condemned; that he that is of the contrary part may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you.[ Exhort] servants to be obedient unto their own masters,[ and] to please[ them] well in all[ things]; not answering again;Not purloining, but shewing all good fidelity; that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things.

[ Is] not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke?

Give none offence, neither to the Jews, nor to the Gentiles, nor to the church of God:

Servants, obey in all things[ your] masters according to the flesh; not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but in singleness of heart, fearing God:And whatsoever ye do, do[ it] heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.But he that doeth wrong shall receive for the wrong which he hath done: and there is no respect of persons.

And the Syrians had gone out by companies, and had brought away captive out of the land of Israel a little maid; and she waited on Naaman’s wife.And she said unto her mistress, Would God my lord[ were] with the prophet that[ is] in Samaria! for he would recover him of his leprosy.

A son honoureth[ his] father, and a servant his master: if then I[ be] a father, where[ is] mine honour? and if I[ be] a master, where[ is] my fear? saith the LORD of hosts unto you, O priests, that despise my name. And ye say, Wherein have we despised thy name?

And I will sanctify my great name, which was profaned among the heathen, which ye have profaned in the midst of them; and the heathen shall know that I[ am] the LORD, saith the Lord GOD, when I shall be sanctified in you before their eyes.
