大卫把以色列的众领袖：各支派的领袖、轮班服事王的领袖、千夫长、百夫长、掌管王和王子们一切财产与牲畜的领袖，以及太监、显贵和所有英勇的战士，都召集到耶路撒冷来。

以色列人各家族的首领、千夫长、百夫长和服事王的所有官长，都按着他们的数目分定班次，每年按月轮班，每班有二万四千人。

于是王派人把犹大和耶路撒冷的众长老都召集了来。王和犹大众人、耶路撒冷的居民、祭司、利未人，以及所有的人民，无论大小，都一同上耶和华的殿去；王就把在耶和华殿里发现的约书上的一切话，都诵读给他们听。

希西家王清早起来，召集城中的领袖，上耶和华的殿去。

因为王和众领袖，以及耶路撒冷的全体会众曾经商议，要在二月守逾越节。

大卫与千夫长、百夫长和所有的领袖商议。

后来发现以利亚撒的子孙中，比以他玛的子孙有更多作首领的，就把他们分开班次；以利亚撒子孙中作首领的，按着他们的家族有十六人；以他玛子孙中作首领的，按着他们的家族有八人。

于是，大卫把以色列人都招聚到耶路撒冷，要把耶和华的约柜抬上来，到大卫给它预备好的地方去。

大卫王对全体会众说：“我的儿子所罗门，是神所拣选的，现在还年幼识浅，而这工程非常浩大；因为这殿宇不是为人建造，而是为耶和华神建造的。

他们在大卫王、撒督、亚希米勒，以及祭司和利未人的家族首领面前也抽了签，好像他们的亲族亚伦的子孙一样；各家族首领和他们年幼的兄弟都一样抽了签。

对他们说：“你们是利未人各家族的首领，你们和你们的亲族都要自洁，好把以色列的神耶和华的约柜抬上来，到我为它预备的地方去。
