大卫在希伯仑生的儿子有耶斯列人亚希暖所生的长子暗嫩，迦密人拿八的遗孀亚比该所生的次子基利押，基述王达买的女儿玛迦所生的三子押沙龙，哈及所生的四子亚多尼雅，亚比她所生的五子示法提雅，大卫的妻子以格拉所生的六子以特念。大卫的这些儿子都是在希伯仑生的。

虽有六十个王后，八十个妃嫔和无数的宫女，但我完美无瑕的小鸽子独一无二，她是她母亲的独女和最爱。众女子看见她都夸她有福，王后和妃嫔见了也连连称赞她，说：

他有七百个妻子，都是外国的公主，还有三百个妃嫔。这些女子使他的心背弃耶和华。

大卫从希伯仑迁到耶路撒冷以后，又选立妃嫔，生了更多的儿女。

以下是大卫在希伯仑生的儿子：长子暗嫩，由耶斯列人亚希暖所生；次子但以利，由迦密人亚比该所生；三子押沙龙，由基述王达买的女儿玛迦所生；四子亚多尼雅，由哈及所生；五子示法提雅，由亚比她所生；六子以特念，由大卫的妻子以格拉所生。以上六人都是大卫在希伯仑生的。大卫在希伯仑做王七年零六个月，在耶路撒冷做王三十三年。大卫在耶路撒冷生的儿子有示米亚、朔罢、拿单和所罗门，这四个儿子的母亲是亚米利的女儿拔示芭。大卫的儿子还有益辖、以利沙玛、以利法列、挪迦、尼斐、雅非亚、以利沙玛、以利雅大和以利法列，共九人。这些都是大卫的儿子，不包括嫔妃生的儿子。大卫还有个女儿，名叫她玛。

罗波安精明地把其他王子派驻到犹大和便雅悯境内的各坚城，给他们充足的供应和许多妻妾。

他有许多妻子，生了七十个儿子。
