從巴力·比利土的廟裡拿了七十塊銀子給他。他用這些錢收買了一班無賴做隨從。

弟兄姊妹，你們的思想不要像小孩子，要長大成熟，但在罪惡的事上要像嬰孩。

羅波安回到耶路撒冷，從猶大和便雅憫支派召集了十八萬精兵，要攻打以色列，收復全國。然而，耶和華上帝對祂的僕人示瑪雅說：「你去告訴所羅門的兒子猶大王羅波安和所有住在猶大和便雅憫的以色列人，耶和華這樣說，『你們不要上去與弟兄交戰，都回家吧，因為這事出於我。』」眾人聽從了耶和華的話，沒有去攻打耶羅波安，各自回家去了。

所有受壓迫的、負債的和心懷不滿的人都紛紛來投奔他。大衛就做了他們的首領，跟隨他的有四百多人。

努力耕耘者豐衣足食；追求虛榮者愚不可及。

一國之君若年幼無知，他的臣宰從早到晚只顧宴樂，那國就有禍了！

主必使少兒做他們的首領，讓孩童治理他們。
