在约旦河西岸一带的亚摩利众王和沿海一带的迦南众王，听说耶和华为了让以色列人过河而使约旦河成为干地，都吓得胆战心惊，勇气尽失。

“我知道耶和华已经把这地方赐给你们，我们十分害怕。这里所有的居民都吓得胆战心惊。因为你们离开埃及过红海的时候，耶和华怎样使红海在你们面前成为干地，你们怎样对付约旦河东的两个亚摩利王西宏和噩，怎样把他们彻底消灭，我们都听说了。我们听了这些事，感到心惊胆战、勇气尽失。你们的上帝耶和华是天地万物的上帝。

“众王和他们的军队逃走了，逃走了！”以色列的妇女都在分战利品。

营房、田野的所有非利士人，包括驻军和那些突击队都非常恐慌。大地震动，众人恐惧万分。

原来，主使亚兰人听见大队人马和战车的声音。他们以为以色列王雇用了赫人的诸王和埃及人的诸王来攻营，便在傍晚时分撇下帐篷、马和驴，弃营而逃。那几个麻风病人到了营地，走进一个帐篷，又吃又喝，把那里的金银和衣服拿走收藏起来，再回来进入另一个帐篷，把财物拿走收藏起来。

他们的堡垒必因恐惧而倒塌，他们的将领一看见战旗必惊慌失措。”这是耶和华说的，祂的火在锡安，祂的火炉在耶路撒冷。

从今天起，我要使天下万民在你面前惊恐万状，一听到你的名字就吓得发抖。’

于是，民众出城抢掠亚兰人的营地。那时，三公斤细面粉只卖十一克银子，六公斤大麦也只卖十一克银子，正如耶和华所言。

他耳边响着恐怖的声音，他安逸时遭强盗袭击。

又说：“耶和华确实将那整片土地交给我们了，那里的居民听到我们的消息，都吓得胆战心惊。”

约沙法和他的百姓前去拾财物，发现尸体中有许多财物、衣服和贵重物品，多得拿不完。他们拾了三天才拾完。

敌人的帆索松开，桅杆晃动不稳，风帆无法扬起。那时，大量的战利品将被瓜分，甚至瘸子都分得一份。

耶和华的灵降在参孙身上，他便去亚实基伦杀了三十个人，掳走他们的衣服，交给猜中谜语的那些人，然后怒气冲冲地回父亲家去了。

然而，靠着爱我们的主，我们在这一切事上已经得胜有余了。
