猶大四圍地上的邦國都懼怕耶和華，不敢與約沙法爭戰。

他們起行。上帝使周圍城鎮的人都驚恐，就不追趕雅各的兒子們了。

地上所有的邦國聽見耶和華打敗以色列的仇敵，就都懼怕上帝。

他們見了這城就驚奇喪膽，急忙逃跑。戰兢在那裏抓住他們，他們好像臨產的婦人一樣陣痛。

約旦河西亞摩利人的眾王和靠海迦南人的眾王，聽見耶和華在以色列人前面使約旦河的水乾了，直到他們過了河，眾王因以色列人的緣故都膽戰心驚，勇氣全失。

對他們說：「我知道耶和華已經把這地賜給你們了，並且我們也都懼怕你們。這地所有的居民在你們面前都融化了。因為我們聽見你們出埃及的時候，耶和華怎樣在你們前面使紅海的水乾了，並且你們怎樣處置約旦河東的兩個亞摩利王，西宏和噩，把他們完全消滅。我們一聽見就膽戰心驚，人人因你們的緣故勇氣全失。耶和華－你們的上帝是天上地下的上帝。

「統領大軍的君王逃跑了，逃跑了！」在家等候的婦女也分得了掠物。

於是在軍營、在田野、在眾百姓中，人心惶惶，駐軍和突擊隊都戰兢；地也震動，這是從上帝那裏來的驚恐。

因為主使亞蘭人的軍隊聽見戰車戰馬的聲音，大軍的聲音，他們就彼此說：「看哪，這必是以色列王雇用赫人諸王和埃及諸王來攻擊我們。」所以，在黃昏的時候他們起來逃跑，撇下帳棚、馬、驢，把軍營留在原處，只顧逃命。那些長痲瘋的人到了營邊，進了一座帳棚，吃了喝了，從當中拿走金銀和衣服，收藏起來。他們又回來，進了另一座帳棚，從當中拿走財物去收藏。

它的磐石必因驚嚇而消失，它的領袖必因大旗驚惶；這是那有火在錫安、有爐在耶路撒冷的耶和華說的。

從今日起，我要讓天下萬民驚慌懼怕你，聽見你的名聲，就因你發顫傷慟。」

百姓就出去，擄掠亞蘭人的軍營。於是一細亞細麵只賣一舍客勒，二細亞大麥也賣一舍客勒，正如耶和華所說的。

驚嚇的聲音常在他耳中；在平安時，毀滅者必臨到他。

他們對約書亞說：「耶和華果然將那全地交在我們手中了，並且那地所有的居民在我們面前都融化了。」

約沙法和他的百姓就來收取掠物，找到許多牲畜、財物、衣服和珍寶。他們取掠物歸為己有，直到無法攜帶；因為掠物太多，他們足足收取了三日。

船上的繩索鬆開，不能穩住桅杆，也無法揚起船帆。那時許多擄物被瓜分，連瘸腿的也能奪走掠物。

耶和華的靈大大感動參孫，他就下到亞實基倫，擊殺了三十個人，奪了他們身上的衣服，把衣服給了猜出謎語的人。參孫怒氣大發，就上他父親的家去了。

然而，靠着愛我們的主，在這一切的事上，我們已經得勝有餘了。
