In Jerusalem also, Jehoshaphat appointed some of the Levites, priests and heads of Israelite families to administer the law of the Lord and to settle disputes. And they lived in Jerusalem.

In Jerusalem, Jehoshaphat chose some Levites and priests. He also chose some leaders of Israelite families. He appointed all of them to apply the law of the Lord fairly. He wanted them to decide cases. He wanted them to settle matters between people. All those judges lived in Jerusalem.

Moreover, in Jerusalem Jehoshaphat appointed certain Levites and priests and heads of families of Israel, to give judgment for the Lord and to decide disputed cases. They had their seat at Jerusalem.

In Jerusalem, Jehoshaphat appointed some of the Levites and priests and clan leaders in Israel to serve as judges for cases involving the Lord’s regulations and for civil disputes.

Jehoshaphat also appointed in Jerusalem some of the Levites and priests and some of the Israelite family heads for deciding the LORD’s will and for settling disputes of the residents of Jerusalem.

與他們同去的還有利未人示瑪雅、尼探雅、西巴第雅、亞撒黑、示米拉末、約拿單、亞多尼雅、多比雅和駝·巴多尼雅，還有祭司以利沙瑪和約蘭。他們帶著耶和華的律法書，走遍猶大各城鎮教導民眾。

你要聽我的勸告，願上帝與你同在。你要做百姓的代表，把案件奏明上帝，又要教導他們律例和法度，指示他們當行的道、當做的事。此外，要在百姓當中挑選一些敬畏上帝、有才幹、誠實、正直、憎惡不義之財的人，派他們做千夫長、百夫長、五十夫長和十夫長，管理百姓。讓他們隨時為百姓判案，處理小糾紛，遇到大事才由你審理。有他們分擔你的責任，你會更輕省。如果你這樣做，並且上帝也這樣吩咐你，你就能承受得住，百姓也可以平安地回家。」於是，摩西接納了岳父的建議，依言而行，從百姓中挑選有才幹的人，委派他們做千夫長、百夫長、五十夫長和十夫長管理百姓。他們負責隨時審理百姓的事，遇到難斷的案件就呈到摩西那裡，自己則審理普通的事。

利未祭司也要去，因為你們的上帝耶和華揀選他們在祂面前事奉、奉祂的名為人祝福並審理各種糾紛及人身傷害的事。

「如果案件複雜，難以決斷，如謀殺、訴訟、人身傷害等，就要把案件帶到你們的上帝耶和華選定的地方，交給當值的利未祭司和審判官去審理。你們必須執行他們在耶和華所選擇的地方宣告的判決，你們要謹慎遵行他們的一切指示。他們教導你們律法，宣佈判決後，你們必須完全執行，絲毫不可偏離。如果有人不肯接受事奉你們上帝耶和華的祭司和審判官的判決，就必須處死他。如此，你們便從以色列除掉了罪惡，使眾人得知後心中害怕，不敢再任意妄為。

其中有兩萬四千人在耶和華的殿裡司職，六千人做官長和審判官，

「如果發生糾紛，雙方告上法庭，審判官要判明是非。

以斯哈族的基拿尼雅及其眾子做官長和士師，為以色列管理聖殿以外的事務。
